It’s time for the latest Famitsu’s most wanted games chart. Dragon Quest XI S holds on to the top spot for Nintendo titles while Animal Crossing slips out of the top five.

A number of new deals are up and running on the North American Switch eShop. These include Fast RMX, Furi, Rime, the SteamWorld games, The Messenger, Wandersong, Yooka-Laylee, and more.

Toshihiro Nagoshi

Toshihiro Nagoshi has worked on many high-profile IPs throughout his time at SEGA. These days he’s known for the Yakuza series, but he also created Super Monkey Ball and was a producer on F-Zero GX.

In an interview with Famitsu, Nagoshi highlighted the differences between how Nintendo and SEGA make games. He also touched on what he feels was so amazing about Nintendo. Here’s the excerpt, courtesy of Siliconera:

Box Office Mojo is reporting that Detective Pikachu took home an estimated $58 million during its debut weekend. As a result, the film had largest opening weekend for a video game adaptation ever, surpassing Lara Croft Tomb Raider. That movie earned $47.7 million back in 2001.

Detective Pikachu should eventually become the highest grossing video game adaptation of all-time domestically. After just three days, it’s already in the top ten.

Fire Emblem Heroes kicked off its latest event today. Grand Hero Battle – Delthea: Tatarrah’s Puppet is live, featuring the character from Fire Emblem Heroes. Delthea can be found in Special Maps, and by defeating the mage, you can make her your ally.

Grand Hero Battle – Delthea: Tatarrah’s Puppet lasts until May 20.

Just Shapes & Beats

Just Shapes & Beats launched on Switch nearly a year ago. Berzerk Studio ended up bringing the game to PlayStation 4 this week, and a new “Hardcore Mode” was included. Fortunately, it’s been confirmed that the Switch version will be updated with the feature as well.

For the new mode, Berzerk Studio says that all stages were “redesigned in some form or another to give you a whole new experience that will make even seasoned Souls-like players weep, longing for their mother’s warm embrace.” You can view a trailer for Just Shapes & Beats: Hardcore Edition below.

Nintendo Switch Online

Nintendo’s maintenance schedule has updated once again, showing which sessions are planned for the coming week. As of now, two periods of downtime are planned for Switch.

The current schedule is as follows:

Two new Pokemon wallpapers are up for grabs on My Nintendo in North America. Fans can get their hands on a design for Pokemon Sword/Shield as well as one for Detective Pikachu.

Both wallpapers will set you back 50 Platinum Points each. If you’re interested in obtaining either of them, head on over to My Nintendo here.

Nippon Columbia announced Sumikko Gurashi: School Life Begins for Switch this week. We now have the game’s boxart, which you can find above.
