Wii / GameCube games for NVIDIA Shield in China are running natively after all
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in GameCube, News, Wii | 24 Comments
Plenty of attention has been given to the new release of the NVIDIA Shield in China, and understandably so. One big aspect is that a few Wii games are playable on the device, with more to come (and GameCube games to boot).
We heard yesterday that these titles are streamed, and aren’t actually ports. However, it appears that the initial information was a mistake. An NVIDIA rep has stepped forward, saying that this “has been talked about internally.” The Nintendo titles “are running natively, are remastered, and look great.”
The Wii games available on the NVIDIA Shield in China run at a 1080p resolution. New Super Mario Bros. Wii, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Punch-Out!!, and Super Mario Galaxy have started the Nintendo partnership.
Thanks to Justin for the tip.

Starflux Rivals heading to Switch
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch eShop | 0 comments
Similar to the way in which Shiftlings was confirmed for Switch, we have news about another title from Rock Pocket Games heading to the console. The studio’s website shows that Starflux Rivals is also on the way.
Starflux Rivals is described as “a multiplayer competitive brawler” that takes inspiration from the likes of Smash Bros. and Worms. Gravity is the hook here, as it will pull you towards the nearest surface. That means fights can take place while walking upside down, and the game’s physics will allow you to orbit around the arena to surprise your opponents.
We have more information about Starflux Rivals below, along with a trailer.

Ad for new Gen 3 Pokemon spotted for Pokemon GO on the Apple Watch App Store

Pokemon GO’s roster of Pokemon is likely expanding very soon. An ad for a new round of Gen 3 Pokemon has been spotted, signaling that Niantic will have more to add in the near future.
The ad, pictured above, comes from the Apple Watch App Store. While the text is the same as the Halloween event, the Pokemon are not. Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip from Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire should be on the way soon, along with other potential Pokemon.

The Nintendo Switch Online app has received an update. On iOS, version 1.1.3 can be downloaded (nothing as of now on Android). Nintendo says that more bug fixes have been implemented.
The Switch itself also received an update yesterday. Nintendo upgraded the firmware, bringing it to version 4.1.0. One issue was fixed “that caused motion controls to respond incorrectly when playing games that use the feature”.

Wii and GameCube games for NVIDIA Shield in China are streamed rather than ports
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 40 Comments
As previously reported, NVIDIA has teamed up with Nintendo to bring Wii and GameCube titles to Switch. Making this even more interesting is that they’ll run at a resolution of 1080p.
There is one important detail to point out, however. Instead of ports, these titles are instead being streamed. Games are accessed through the GeForce Now streaming service.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Punch-Out!!, and Super Mario Galaxy are the initial batch of releases. More will be on the way in the future.
