THQ Nordic says Darksiders Warmastered Edition hasn’t been cancelled for Wii U
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 25 Comments
Darksiders Warmastered Edition made it out on various platforms last November. Unfortunately, the Wii U version still hasn’t launched, and publisher THQ Nordic has been keeping quiet about the situation in recent weeks.
On the bright side, Darksiders Warmastered Edition is still on track for Wii U. THQ Nordic told one fan on Twitter that it hasn’t been cancelled.
@WiiU_PRO @darksiders No, we have not.
— THQNordic (@THQNordic) February 6, 2017
THQ Nordic explained to us last year that “optimizing the game for the Wii U is still a tough task.” The team “made the call of releasing it properly and the only conclusion was to delay it.”

NES Classic Edition production assumed to be ending in Scandinavia
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 3 Comments
Nintendo has mentioned several times as of late that the NES Classic Edition will be restocked. Despite that, Nintendo’s Nordic distributor Bergsala claims that the hardware is being phased out, and production has ended. A few more shipments will be sent before stock runs out – possibly around April or May.
Norwegian retailer Spillsjappa also posted the following on Facebook:
It’s official now.
NES Classic Edition has expired from Nordic Nintendo importer bergsala ab.
This is tragic for us and our clients when they won’t fulfill orders we accepted in July 2016.
There will be deliveries in March and April and then it’s over 🙁
We will contact everyone standing in line with us and those who sat in line last will get the sad news by email first.
We will still follow queue to the letter and of course those who’s first at all times will get delivered first.
The status of the NES Classic Edition in the rest of the world remains to be seen. It would definitely be odd to see Nintendo pull the plug on the system knowing how many interested consumers still haven’t been able to secure a unit.

Today, Amazon announced that a new animated series is in the works based on Double Fine’s Costume Quest. Prime members will be able to watch the show at some point next year.
Here’s the official overview:
“Based on the smash video game series by Double Fine Productions (Psychonauts, Broken Age) and the world originally created by Tasha Sounart, Costume Quest is a funny and mysterious animated series aimed at six to 11-year-olds. The show stars four kids facing off against the dark forces lurking in the shadows of their sleepy town of Auburn Pines. To overcome obstacles and achieve their goals, they must learn to unlock and master the magical powers of supernormal costumes—with each costume comes a new set of transformations and powers.”
Frederator Studios is handling the Costume Quest series. It will be executive produced by Will McRobb (The Adventures of Pete & Pete) who also serves as story editor, as well as Frederator Studios’ Fred Seibert (The Fairly OddParents), Kevin Kolde (Adventure Time) and Eric Homan (Adventure Time).

Rumor: Switch dev files provide new system details, images, specs
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Switch | 59 Comments
Update: Added in details about Nintendo’s expanded online network and library called Network Extension (NEX).
Original: Earlier today, a new thread popped up in the Switch section of Reddit with very interesting information and images about Nintendo’s new hardware. Someone seemingly managed to get a hold of several files, in-development images, and new shots of Switch (when it was known as NX) revealing additional information about the system, including specs. While some of the content might be outdated, there’s no question that a good deal here is still relevant and applies to Switch’s retail version.
There are three files online at the moment. We have an NX overview, system features guide, and SDev Kit quick start document.
Reddit user dreamsomebody compiled the following information based on what’s surfaced:

A panel for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be held at GDC 2017, Nintendo announced today. Game director Hidemaro Fujibayashi, art director Satoru Takizawa, and technical director Takuhiro Dohta will be on hand for the panel, named “Change and Constant – Breaking Conventions with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild”. The event “will provide an in-depth look at how these convention-breaking changes were implemented.”
Nintendo will host the panel between 11 AM to 12:30 PM local time on March 1 at the Moscone Center. It doesn’t sound like a live stream will be offered, but it will be shown on the GDC Vault site the following week.
