Folks are starting to get their hands on the Super Mario Edition New 3DS that hit store shelves today. Find some photos of the black unit below.


On the whole, people are pretty pleased with the NES Classic Edition – not withstanding stock issues. However, there is one complaint that’s been mentioned here and there. For some players, the controller’s cord is just too short.

Here’s an interesting thing about the controller: it packs in the same communication protocol as the Wiimote. Both use I2C, which has limitations with speed and length.

Had Nintendo gone with another communication protocol, it would have required new controllers just for the NES Classic Edition. On top of that, it wouldn’t have been compatible with the Wii U or Wii.

Earlier this week, Nintendo announced that some Cyber Deals would be going live on the European Wii U and 3DS eShops as part of its “Cyber Deals” promotion. The full lineup of titles is now available. A few discounts are planned for Wii U and 3DS, though there will also be four additional sales for My Nintendo members.

Development on Cryamore is starting to reach its end, and the team is now looking to ensure that Kickstarter backers properly receive their rewards. In terms of Nintendo platforms, the title is still slated for Wii U. No Switch version is currently planned.

NostalgiCO said in a Kickstarter update this week that the team doesn’t have any plans to support Switch. That being said, if anything changes, backers who completed a survey would be able to message the team to modify their preferred platform.
