With summer in full swing, Nintendo has kicked off a new National StreetPass Weekend in North America. The event runs through Sunday.

Those who have a 3DS system can connect to a hot spot and partake in StreetPass functionality included in various games. Nintendo also encourages fans to race against others in Mario Kart 7 with the Community Code 56-5948-2194-6571.

Thanks to Jose for the tip.

Both versions of Yo-kai Watch 3 sold a total of 632,000 copies in its first week (July 16 and July 17). Media Create now reports that they sold through 63.07 percent of the initial shipment.

Unsurprisingly, Yo-kai Watch 3 obtained the highest first week sales of all games released so far since the start of the year. However, the series saw a big decline in comparison to the last entry. Yo-kai Watch 2, which debuted in July 2014, experienced first week sales of 1,317,000 copies with a 92.16 percent sell-through rate. It also did not manage to match the spin-off title Yo-kai Watch Busters. That game arrived in July 25 with 694,000 copies sold in its first week and a 73.60 percent sell-through rate.

On the hardware front, New 3DS sales sold 136.68 percent when compared to last week. Since Yo-kai Watch 3 connects with NFC and related toys, it is thought that this has caused an urge in the demand to trade off from the old 3DS.

Update: Download links are here: iOS and Android

The wait for Pokemon GO in Japan is finally over, for the most part. We’re hearing that the game’s servers are now live throughout the country. There don’t appear to be download links yet, but those who nabbed the game through the likes of APK files have already started to play.

Metroid Prime: Federation Force features a Samus decoy. The inflatable doll can be used to distract enemies, and use the tactic to your advantage. Here’s a look at it in the game:

Pokemon GO data miners are up to their usual tricks, and have uncovered some previously-unknown information about the game by peering through its files. The latest information concerns the level cap, tidbits about currently uncatchable Pokemon, and more.

Here’s the rundown from Pokemon Fortress:

The Gurumin Twitter account is currently hosting a fan Q&A session, and has shared some new details in the process. We’ve rounded up the information thus far below and will add in new tidbits assuming more are posted.

– Fully 3D
– “some redrawn help stuff”
– New lower screen
– Could come to Wii U or NX if the game does well
– Not using the same textures as the PC version since it’s technically impossible
– Moving a traditional 3D platforming game to true stereoscopic 3D has been the greatest challenge
– Can switch headgear on the lower screen
– Will support the C Stick on New 3DS
– 30 FPS
– Based mainly on PSP version (which has more costumes)
– 3DS theme is “very likely”

A potentially dangerous situation was thankfully avoided at the Pokemon World Championships back in 2015. Two men were put under arrest after threatening violence to attendees. Unlicensed guns were found in their vehicle, along with several other weapons.

Those men – James Stumbo and Kevin Norton – have now pled guilty to charges that they brought a rifle, shotgun, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition to the Pokemon World Championship last summer. Both will serve two-year sentences of prison and two years of probation. Stumbo and Norton had also previously served 335 days since they were arrested.
