Last week, Nintendo brought “Star Fox Zero: The Battle Begins + Training” to the European Wii U eShop. The download features the recent animated short as well as a demo of Star Fox Zero.

We’re happy to report that Star Fox Zero: The Battle Begins + Training is now available on the North American Wii U eShop as well. It’s free, so there’s no harm in nabbing it – unless you’re worried about space. The download takes up 1,677MB.

Here’s an overview of Star Fox Zero: The Battle Begins + Training from the Wii U eShop:

“In this demo, enjoy the full Animated Short Movie – Star Fox Zero: The Battle Begins, then jump into training to prepare for combat! In this white-knuckle space shooter, it’ll take more than luck to master the Arwing jet, the Gyrowing flight drone, and the Landmaster tank!”

Star Fox Zero: The Battle Begins + Training doesn’t appear to be easily accessible – you’ll need to search for it.

Pokemon GO

Pokemon GO may have gotten a (small) update today, but it didn’t fix one of the game’s biggest problems. Many users are unable to connect to the app currently. And when that happens, Pokemon GO is basically dead – there’s not much you can do when you can’t connect to the servers.

All that can be done is to wait for Niantic to improve the situation. Japan is supposed to be getting Pokemon GO soon, so that may add to the server load. Once things settle down, hopefully Niantic can turn its attention to the servers.

Niantic has said that they would be updating Pokemon GO regularly, and so far they’ve hold true to their promise. A new update for the game is available. Players can download version 1.0.3 / 0.29.3 as of now.

Admittedly, the update doesn’t do a whole lot. The official patch notes say that minor text fixes have been implemented.

Astrosaurus Games is readying Collateral Thinking “an arcade-style action platformer for Wii U that’s all about beating up alien ghosts, recovering blueprints, and rescuing billionaires on a tight schedule (and budget).”

The indie developer passed along the following overview:

“Collateral Thinking is an arcade-style action platformer for Wii U that’s all about beating up alien ghosts, recovering blueprints, and rescuing billionaires on a tight schedule (and budget). Each level is a self-contained screen that gives you one of three specific tasks to complete in 30 short seconds – to “Avoid” all the hazards, to “Bust” all the enemies, or to “Collect” all the blueprints. These quickfire challenges force you to quickly survey your surroundings and then jump into action in order to progress through the 100+ floors and net as much cash as possible along the way. The game is meant to blend the core floor-climbing, obstacle negotiation of Donkey Kong with the original Mario Bros.’ single-screen enemy hunting, and then crank up the speed, intensity, and absurdity while adding elements of Wario Ware’s unpredictability and impulsivity to the mix.”

Astrosaurus Games says Collateral Thinking will be out within “the next week or two” in North America. Europe and Australia will have it on August 18. When it’s available, the game will cost $2.99.
