Following Freedom Planet’s final delay, GalaxyTrail said that a new date wouldn’t be announced until all bugs and issues were ironed out. The game did finally make its way to the North American Wii U eShop on Thursday, but some players are unfortunately encountering a notable problem. During a particular cut-scene, a bug pops up that can cause the Wii U to freeze.

GalaxyTrail said on Miiverse a few days ago that they’re aware of a problem. There’s no timetable for it yet, but a patch is already planned. GalaxyTrail also shared some temporary solutions.

Last month, OXiAB Game Studio announced that free downloadable content will be coming to Canvaleon. We now have information as to what players can expect.

Here’s the full rundown from the developer:

NEW GAME MODE “SP MISSIONS”

You will be able to access this new game mode from the main menu. It consists of mini-levels for the player to learn all the dynamics of the game. In addition, the “SP MISSIONS” will also incluide 10 totally new levels. These new levels will be a challenge for all the players. Furthermore, the “SP MISSIONS” will have its own song, composed by the author of the Canvaleon’s original soundtrack.

Last month’s issue of GamesTM has a lengthy interview with Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka. As you would expect, the discussion is largely focused on the Super Mario Bros. series.

A few interesting comments came about when Miyamoto and Tezuka were asked if they ever made any choices that they were concerned about being controversial. Miyamoto started things off, and spoke about how it’s difficult catering to both advanced players and beginners.

He said:

“For me one of the things was maybe the gap between the really advanced players and the first-time players. The difficulty balance is always something that I hear frustrations about from the public, whichever way we decide to go. We always have the testing team test our game, but whatever they say is really fun, the first-time players might consider to be very difficult. One of the things I do sometimes at the later phases of development is go in and hear the testing team’s requests and actually pull that away and lower the barrier or change what it is they want. Sometimes I even hear from the testing team, ‘You’re destroying the fun’, but on the other hand, the flipside is you hear the first-time players saying ‘If I can’t clear a level it’s not fun for me. If I can’t complete a game it’s not fun for me’. The more years that have passed, the gap between advanced and first-time players has become wider.”

The next news update on Hyrule Warriors Legends should be coming next week. That’s based on a message from the game’s official Japanese Twitter account, which teased the reveal of additional information.

Toon Link was confirmed as a playable character last month, and we also received the first information and footage pertaining to the new Wind Waker content. Perhaps we’ll hear about at least one new character next week? If so, expect the news to leak via Famitsu in a couple of days.

Earlier this week, Bandai Namco Europe held a live stream for Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden. The recording has since become available. Due to auto-play, we’ve posted it after the break.

Armikrog isn’t ready for launch on the Wii U eShop just yet, but the game did see its initial release this past week. You can view a bunch of footage from it below.

Let’s Talk #26: What are you playing? – October 2015

A new month is here! I’d love to know what everybody has been playing as of late, or intends to play in the weeks ahead.

I’ve been focusing on two main games really: Super Mario Maker and Ys: Memories of Celceta. Ys has been getting most of my time, but I’ve still been playing Super Mario Maker regularly. It’s fun to just boot up the game and mess around with a few levels. I’m not at all creative myself, yet I’m still finding a ton of enjoyment with it.

But what about you guys? What’s everyone playing these days?

Highlights from last week’s topic: Nintendo and movies

windstar

I think an animated Mario would be great. We never got a proper one, I think everyone would love to finally see that.

Kira – HylianKeyblade

I think a Zelda movie done by Studio Ghibli could be really interesting and there would probably be a lot of high quality work there ^^. Of course the Zelda movie then have to be in a anime format and I think the Zelda series can suit a anime look pretty well :-).

I do think Nintendo should start making movies more or at least anime/animation series to attract a new young audience like Pokémon and Youkai Watch have accomplished. Also I think it could be pretty cool to see Nintendo characters come to life through animation again ^^. (If done right).

Although some amiibo are losing their retailer exclusivity in North America, a new set of upcoming figures will be sold at just one store. It turns out that the amiibo for the Mii Fighters will be distributed at only Toys “R” Us. That information is based on the image above, which is a photo snapped from a display.

All of the Mii Fighters are scheduled for November 1. You’d have to think that after a few months have passed, the amiibo will be available at other retailers as well.
