Machamp is now available as a special today. You 14 days, until December 8th, to try and catch it.

Finally, Latios is now available in an escalation battle. If you manage to beat level 50, you will also get its Mega Stone. Latios will be available until December 8th.

KnapNok’s Anchel Labena has commented on a number of topics pertaining to Affordable Space Adventures as part of an interview with Nintendo Life.

Regarding the game’s reception, Labena said that the game has received “some pretty amazing reviews”, which came as a bit of a surprise given its “quirky nature”. Sales were strong out of the gate, though “things slowed down a bit during the months after.”

Labena’s comments in full:

“We’ve been getting some pretty amazing reviews, which we are obviously really happy about. It really caught us by surprise, since Affordable Space Adventures is such a quirky title that we didn’t know what the press would think about it. I guess that all the positive press really affected sales at launch, because we saw a sudden surge of interest from players, YouTube streamers and other media outlets who hadn’t heard about the game before its launch.

While sales kicked off to a great start, things slowed down a bit during the months after launch. We still keep selling units on a daily basis though. It doesn’t come as a surprise either. We are, after all, a digital-only release, and presence in the Wii U eShop is crucial for us. Every time our game shows up in the eShop front page (like a banner, a Nintendo Highlights video or being included in a list of indie games for example), we have a considerable spike in sales. The new update is surely going to get a new surge of interest in the title, so we hope to keep the momentum going with that. We also just launched in Japan, and that’s definitely a super interesting market to get into. You have to think different in how you approach the audience there. Luckily, there are also fans there. One of them posted a drawing on Miiverse and it took as a while to understand that her handwriting said “I’ve been waiting for a year for this game since Knytt Underground” (Knytt Underground being the previous game of Affordable Space Adventure’s Game Director, Nicklas Nygren). What I can tell you, however, is that the game has definitely been a success for us and we are quite happy about how it is performing.”

Nintendo will heavily discount some of its titles on the European eShop between November 27th and November 30th. Several 3DS and Wii U games will get a discount of up to 40%. The exact titles have not yet been announced.

Last year around the same time Nintendo held a Smash Bros-themed sale where several high-profile first party games whose characters were represented in Smash Bros were discounted, so I would expect similar deals this year as well. We will keep you updated once more details become available.

Let’s Talk #31: Have you tried out Nintendo Badge Arcade?

Nintendo Badge Arcade hit the Japanese 3DS eShop in December 2014. It wasn’t until last week though that the app came out in the west. Now that it’s here, have you given it a shot? Do you believe it was worth the wait?

I admit I’ve been checking in on Nintendo Badge Arcade daily since its release. What’s funny about that is how I’m interested in the collective aspect more than anything else. I’m not really a creative person, and I don’t intend to load up my home menu with badges. There’s something there though that I keep coming back to. I boot up the app, visit the practice catcher, and usually use my free play. It’s easy and quick enough to get the job done! I can’t say I’m inclined to spend any cash on Nintendo Badge Arcade, however.

Now share your thoughts with us in the comments below! What do you think of Nintendo Badge Arcade?

Last July, Teyon published the fantastic side-scrolling shooter Steel Empire on the North American 3DS eShop. Well over a year later, the title finally appears to be coming to Europe.

The USK, Germany’s ratings board, recently added in an entry for Steel Empire. That would suggest a European release is coming soon. If we hear anything official from Teyon, we’ll let you know.

Bloo Kid 2 has appeared on several platforms since last March. Yet the 3DS version has managed to generate the most sales, earning 36 percent of the overall revenue.

Bloo Kid 2 has sold over 5,500 copies through the eShop. Because of the title’s performance, it covered all of the developer’s costs.

winterworks wrote in a blog post:

The 3DS version was a rough ride. I was super happy when we were accepted as a developer for Nintendo platforms (dream come true!) so I ordered the dev-hardware and got my hands dirty at once.
The Monkey-X framework cannot target the 3DS hardware, so I had to create an own 3DS target build. I also had to rearrange resource-loading and add more UI-screens for the 3DS’ second display as well as change a lot of stuff for the stereoscopic 3D-effect.

I got major help from my former colleague Florian Eisele, who will be working closely with me on future projects. He did all the hardware-related coding so that I could focus on adopting the game to the new display and input possibilities of the 3DS. We had a version running within days, but it took us many additional weeks to iron out every problem like running out of video RAM or occasional framerate drops.

In the end, it totally paid off. We now have a Nintendo 3DS title in our portfolio! And the game sold well enough to cover all our costs.
