Capcom, iam8bit re-releasing Street Fighter II on SNES

In celebration of Street Fighter’s 30th anniversary, Capcom and iam8bit are teaming up for an “ultra premium throwback relic”. On the way is an entirely new, limited edition reprint of Street Fighter II for the SNES.
Here’s what you can expect from the package:
Featuring one of two colored cartridges, each housing the original game code and fully playable on NTSC consoles – but that’s just the beginning! The “Legacy Cartridge Collection” embodies retro-inspired luxury, amplifying the core SNES box design with a glistening foil sheen, delicately embossed texture, chic spot varnish and an innovative tri-fold cover that opens to reveal bonus vintage art. Inside, we’re keeping it old-school by restoring the contents of the original instruction booklet, complete with a new archival cover print + secret pack-ins (to be revealed when you crack that shrink-wrap seal).

EDGE ranks the top 100 greatest games (2017 edition)

Back in 2015, EDGE published a special issue of its magazine featuring what it felt was the top 100 greatest games of all time. This month, they’re back at it again with a revised list.
The 2017 edition makes a number of changes. One big addition is Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which has taken Dark Souls’ spot as EDGE’s best game of all time. Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Zelda: Ocarina of Time remain in the top ten, however.

My Arcade making a Super Gamepad for the Super NES Classic Edition

When the NES Classic Edition launched last year, third-parties made all sorts of accessories for the system, including unique controllers. We’re seeing the same thing with the Super NES Classic Edition as well.
My Arcade has announced the Super Gamepad, which works with the SNES Classic. It features wireless functionality, TURBO capabilities, and a convenient HOME button to directly access the game selection menu. It also works with the NES Classic Edition and Wii U / Wii Virtual Console with supported games.

GameStop: SNES Classic demand was greater than NES Classic, sold out in 8 minutes, will have launch stock

Pre-orders for the Super NES Classic Edition went live at various retailers last week, including GameStop. After going up on the retailer’s site, it sold out just a few minutes later.
GameStop senior merchandising director Eric Bright told Forbes that it just took eight minutes for the Super Classic Edition to sell out. Moreover, the demand was greater for this product than the NES Classic Edition.

My Nintendo adds Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle wallpaper in North America

In celebration of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle’s launch, My Nintendo has added a new reward in North America. You can get your hands on a wallpaper compatible with PCs, smartphones, and tablets. It costs 500 Platinum Points.
You can order the reward with your points here. It will be on My Nintendo through the end of January 2018.

Nintendo is letting you download your Miiverse post history

Sadly, Miiverse is coming to an end soon. Nintendo announced earlier today that the service ends on November 7 / November 8, depending on where you live.
So what about those who participated a ton in Miiverse? What will happen to everything posted on the social network? Well, the good news is that Nintendo has started up a tool that allows Miiverse users to submit a request for a file containing all posts and screenshots saved in your album. As long as you have a Nintendo Account and make the request before Miiverse ends, you should be good to go.

Earlier today, Nintendo announced that Miiverse will be ending service on November 8th. You may be wondering what this means for games that heavily use this feature, such as Smash Bros and Splatoon, or why the service is shutting down in the first place. Gamescom 2017 sets new attendance record, Gamescom 2018 dated

Gamescom 2017 outperformed last year’s show in several ways. Among these is attendance, as 350,000 visitors showed up for the big expo last week. Gamescom 2016 was attended by 345,000 people.

SNES Classic prompts new artwork for Nintendo Power magazine

With the release of the SNES Classic around the corner, Nintendo decided to make up some artwork in the format of Nintendo Power magazine covers. These three pieces of artwork cover Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and Star Fox 2.
Nintendo urged fans on Twitter to download and enjoy the covers, but those attending PAX West this week can obtain physical copies.

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia soundtrack being released in October

The last couple of Fire Emblem games all received a separate soundtrack release, and Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia will soon follow in their footsteps. The soundtrack album will be available for purchase in Japan on October 25th for 5,300 Yen. It comes on five discs, four music discs and one data disc (which contains a selection of songs in mp3 format as well as the game’s opening movie in HD) with over five hours of music.
Not only does this album contain the completes Shadows of Valentia soundtrack, it also comes with all the songs from the original NES game Fire Emblem Gaiden as well as the Fire Emblem Cipher main theme and instrumental and English versions of “The Heritors of Arcadia”.
The soundtrack also comes with some physical goodies, such as a five postcards, a stickerbook and an exclusive Fire Emblem Cipher Alm & Celica card. Finally, the included booklet has song lyrics as well as a look at the history of Fire Emblem Echoes’ sound team.
