Nintendo has announced today that they will be bringing 8 playable Switch indie titles to EGX Rezzed 2017 in London, which begins on March 30 and ends April 1.

The titles that Nintendo will be bringing to EGX Rezzed were published on the website for the event, and are as follows:

Nintendo has officially filed for a trademark for the previously Japan exclusive Miitopia game, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Previously, there was no word on a western release for the title. While filing for a trademark doesn’t guarantee a release of the title in any form, it could mean that Nintendo is considering bringing the title outside of Japan sometime in the future.

In an impressive display of both technical knowledge and creativity, YouTuber Allen Pan has modified an Amazon Echo to recognize and respond to songs from The Legend of Zelda played on an ocarina as opposed to just voice commands.

While this would be impressive on it’s own, Allen Pan has gone ahead and connected some frequently used devices in his house to the Amazon Echo and attached an appropriate song for each device. For example, playing the Bolero of Fire from Ocarina of time will turn on his heater; the Song of Storms will activate his humidifier and the Song of Healing from Majora’s Mask will reset all connected devices to their previous state, effectively working as an off switch for his entire house.

This impressive display of technical know-how is certainly one of the more unique and creative approaches to Zelda fandom. Check out the entire video below.

Hyrule Encyclopedia, the latest book celebrating Zelda’s 30th anniversary came out in Japan earlier this month. The series’ official Twitter account shared some photos of it yesterday. A few sample pages are posted below.

Yacht Club Games had the honor of making the first ever third party amiibo with Shovel Knight – and it sounds like they’d be up for making some more. In an interview with Gadgets 360, Yacht Club Games director Sean Velasco had the following to say about the possibility of more amiibo from them:

“As far as more amiibo go… man, wouldn’t it be cool to see amiibo of Plague Knight, Specter Knight, and King Knight!? That would be amazing. Maybe some day.”

Of course, this might just be wishful thinking on Velasco’s part and he might not be teasing anything specific, but given how successful Shovel Knight has been and Yacht Club Games’ close relationship with Nintendo, it’s certainly not impossible.

Taiko no Tatsujin has regularly appeared on dedicated game systems, but it also has various versions in arcades. Yesterday, the new Taiko no Tatsujin: Yellow Version was released in Japan, and it even features a song from Splatoon – specifically Calamari Inkantation from the Squid Sisters.

Here’s a look:

Factor 5 co-founder Julian Eggebrecht appeared on the latest episode of German podcast Spieleveteranen. During the talk, Eggebrecht weighed in on Switch.

Regarding Switch’s technical performance, Eggebrecht said its between Wii U and Xbox One. However, he claims that developing is as easy or even easier than the PlayStation 4. Switch is further supported by having all modern GPU standards.

Factor 5 was thought to be dead at a few points, but they’re apparently alive and kicking again. The company even has the rights to Turrican, so perhaps that’s something that could appear on Switch in the future.

Nintendo will have an update on its financials not too long from now. The company’s next Fiscal Year Earnings Release will be issued on April 27, the company confirmed today.

Obviously we’ll be receiving an update on Nintendo’s performance for the overall fiscal year ending March 31. That should include news about Switch’s sales as well.

It was actually on April 27 of last year when we heard that Switch would be launching the following March. Nintendo also announced the Switch version of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and confirmed that it would be its only game at E3 2016. Finally, Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing titles for mobile were made known.

We shouldn’t necessarily expect similar-sized announcements this time around. Still, there’s a possibility that Nintendo could share some news.
