Nintendo brings Switch to colleges this fall

Nintendo today announced its Nintendo Switch: Together Tour in which college students across the United States will be able to get their hands on the console and a selection of games. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, Super Mario Party, and Super Mario Maker 2 will all be playable. Fans can also take photos “that are sure to rack up hearts on social media” and receive a $10 coupon to Target to use on any Nintendo purchase of $75 or more.
The college campuses currently scheduled to appear on the tour include:
Zelda Nendoroid (Breath of the Wild) releasing in January 2020, new photos, pre-orders open

We have a new update on the upcoming Zelda Nendoroid based on the character’s appearance in Breath of the Wild. Good Smile has now set a more specific release window of January 2020.

A look at the amount of games represented at TGS 2019 by platform

Last week’s Tokyo Game Show had a huge amount of games to check out. Just about every platform was represented, though some featured more titles than others.
As for Nintendo platforms, Switch dropped slightly from 144 last year to 129 this year, as did 3DS from 5 to 3. Wii U was finally absent for the first time after the system had two games on display in 2018.

Prototype Ultra 64 controller found in the wild, new photos

During the early days of the N64’s development, Nintendo referenced the console under its code name Ultra 64. Now all of these years later, a prototype controller has been found in the wild and taken apart.
Video game preservationist Shane Battye shared his findings on Twitter. We have the following information and photos from his discovery:

As the clock strikes midnight in Japan, Nintendo is now a year older. The company turns 130 years old today having been established way back on September 23, 1889.
Nintendo is very different in 2019 compared to its early days of hanafuda cards and love hotels. The Big N couldn’t be in a better position today, as its current gaming system Switch has sold 36.87 million units as of June 30.

My Nintendo adds Daemon X Machina wallpapers in North America

Eiji Aonuma discusses how Zelda: Link’s Awakening influenced Ocarina of Time

Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma wasn’t originally involved with the creation of Link’s Awakening. He was just a player at the time, but his time with that game would later influence the series in a big way.
Aonuma’s first major role with Zelda came about when he served as director on Ocarina of Time. Speaking in last month’s issue of EDGE, he revealed how Link’s Awakening ended up influencing the making of the N64 title, stating:
