No Activision booth at E3 2016

Activision has confirmed that it will not have a booth on the E3 2016 show floor. That announcement was made in a new blog post on the publisher’s site today.
For Nintendo, this won’t mean a whole lot. Skylanders probably would have been represented in some fashion, but that would probably be it. It is an interesting move though, as EA had also announced recently that it will be opting for a fan event instead of attending the big gaming expo.

Aonuma talks about how Zelda: Twilight Princess connected with his wife and son

Nintendo Life recently had the opportunity to speak with Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma about Twilight Princess HD. When asked about what makes the game an important entry in the franchise and resonating with players, Aonuma decided to refer to the experiences his wife and son had with the game.
Here’s what he shared:
This is a very difficult question. There’s lots of different things that make Twilight Princess an important title, and I don’t have a single conclusive answer for you. However, there was one thing rather personal to me that stands out. Until the original version was released, my wife had never shown any interest in playing any of the games I’d made. But all of a sudden, without any encouragement from me at all, she played through the whole of Twilight Princess together with our son, who was just three at the time.
I asked her why she decided to play and she replied that she thought the game would be too difficult for our son to play by himself, so at first she wanted to help him by playing through the first part of the game for him. Before she realized it though, she found that she wanted to play through to the end herself. I think that maybe the setting of the game somehow appeals to the kind of people who wouldn’t normally be interested in this type of game.
Even my son, who at the time was too scared of the Imp Poes to play the game has recently played through the Wii version. I didn’t have to encourage him to either, he said that he just thought that maybe now he’d be able to play though to the end. I think that maybe this game has something to it that means you can play it even now without the game feeling too dated. And I think that is even more true with this HD version where you can experience the setting much more vividly. I hope that both people who played the original and those who didn’t will be able to really enjoy delving into the game’s world in this new version. (I’m quite sad that I wasn’t able to tell my son that if he waited a little bit longer then he’d be able to play an HD version, haha).

Capcom shares interesting insight into Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies, Ace Attorney 6
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, DS, General Nintendo, News | 6 Comments
Last month’s issue of Nintendo Dream has a big interview with Takeshi Yamazaki and Motohide Eshiro from Capcom about all things Ace Attorney. The two developers provided some interesting insight into Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies as well as Ace Attorney 6. It’s several pages long, so we went ahead and made a summary.
The most difficult aspect of developing Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies was moving platforms from DS to 3DS. At the time, Capcom hesitated as to whether to keep the series in 2D or make it 3D. Because of the 3DS’ selling point had been about three-dimensional views, they decided to pursue the latter option.
Something similar happened with Ace Attorney Investigations. That title took more time to develop because they needed to create a new gameplay mechanism from scratch. However, when Capcom then made Ace Attorney Investigations 2, they already had the base game set up so they could focus more on the scenario.

A look into Factor 5’s plans to make a Pilotwings title for GameCube
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in GameCube, General Nintendo, News, Videos | 8 Comments
One of the stronger rumors surrounding Factor 5 back in the day was the possibility of the studio creating a new Pilotwings title for the GameCube. In a new video (see below), Liam Robertson looks into these claims and sheds more light on the situation.
As it turns out, there were in fact plans to have a new Pilotwings entry on GameCube at one point. This initially came about in 2001 when Factor 5 was in talks to work on one of Nintendo’s franchises. The new Pilotwings game would have taken some inspiration from the SNES classic, but it sounds like the project would have turned out into something completely different.
Pilotwings on GameCube was never anything too tangible, however. Other than early prototypes, not much was completed. With pressure from LucasArts who helped fund Factor 5’s work on Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike as an exclusive for the struggling GameCube, it was suggested that Pilotwings should be changed into an official game based on The Right Stuff for the Xbox. And after Rebel Strike’s sales disappointed, Factor 5 began pitching its Pilotwings prototype work to publishers as a flight game that would theoretically make use of The Right Stuff IP. Companies showed a lack of interest, however, and the entire project was eventually shelved.
