Way back in the day, Hasbro was working on its own gaming console known as “Project NEMO” – later known as Control-Vision. Ken Melville, who was involved with the hardware, told IGN that the company intended to “create a ‘Nintendo-killer’ that could be sold for under $100.”

Hasbro’s chief executive Stephen Hassenfeld held a ‘Name NEMO’ contest amongst the various staffers at the time. There was one rule, though: the ‘N’ had to stand for ‘Nintendo.’

Night Driver, Missile Command and Space Invaders programmer Rob Fulop – another person involved with Project NEMO – explained to IGN that Hasbro “needed a cool-sounding phrase that NEMO would be the acronym for. People were assigned to generate as many sayings as possible made up of the four letters.” Fulop created the winning entry.

“I am proud to say that I won. My winning entry was ‘Nintendo Ends Mid-October.’”

Capcom has made a lottttt of money from Monster Hunter 4 thus far. Wondering how the company intends to use those profits?

You probably won’t be too pleased to hear that Capcom plans to invest further in the mobile scene by opening a new studio in Osaka. 4 billion yen will be used – stemming from Monster Hunter 4’s sales – so that the subsidiary can be established.

Jason Rubin, co-founder of Naughty Dog and former THQ president, closed out GameTrailers’ Bonus Round with a few somewhat harsh words about Nintendo. Rubin remarked, “Nintendo is irrelevant as a hardware manufacturer in the console business.”

Rubin did praise the company as a whole, however. Nintendo is a “worldwide treasure,” he said, while also noting how “it is a crime that we do not play those games on the systems that we have.”

Took a few photos of Prima’s Zelda Box Set, which you can find in the gallery above. I decided to do a bit of a size comparison as well to show you how big the box/bookmark are by including a 3DS XL in some of the shots. On another note, the box with the guides weigh a ton – definitely over 20 pounds.

Prima’s Zelda Box Set comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by series producer Eiji Aonuma. On the certificate, Aonuma included a brief message for aficionados of the franchise.

Aonuma primarily thanked fans for their dedication. He additionally sneaked in a few words about the next Zelda game – most certainly Zelda Wii U – in which he expresses his “desire to create a unique experience that is beyond your expectations.”

Aonuma’s note in full reads:

It has been 25 years since The Legend of Zelda was introduced to the world, and it is still going strong. This was made possible by the fans who love the series. In the next installment, it is my desire to create a unique experience that is beyond your expectations. We are privileged to have your unwavering support.
