The puzzle game Piczle Lines DX has received a demo on the Japanese eShop. It might be tricky to find, but you basically want to search for the title ピクセルラインDX. If you visit the eShop and access the search section, the first page you’ll see lists all available games. Piczle Lines DX should be far down on the list, but you’ll come across it eventually.

The Piczle Lines DX demo may eventually be pushed out in North America and Europe. For the time being, the Japanese version is useful since it actually includes English.

Nintendo Switch

Switch has received another new firmware update. Nintendo has started distribution of version 4.0.1 for all users.

According to Nintendo, the update makes general system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience. This includes a change with regards to the HDMI connection process specification to match that of version 3.0.2. In doing so, video and sound output issues with some TV models have been addressed.

Back at E3, Game Informer interviewed Shigeru Miyamoto. The site only published a portion of its discussion at the time, but to celebrate Super Mario Odyssey, has now shared the rest of the comments. Game Informer spoke with Miyamoto about a few different things, including the approach to 2D Mario art going forward and interest in having classic games on Switch.

Leif's Adventure: Netherworld Hero

OneManOnMars Art has announced a new game for Switch titled “Leif’s Adventure: Netherworld Hero”.

Here’s the general premise:

What does it take to be a hero?

An age-old question leads Leif on an adventure to a world beyond mortal comprehension. Join our hero and his magical ally on an epic quest to meet loyal friends, fight hordes of enemies and solve mind-bending puzzles. Will he find his way back to the world of the living?

Good news for Pokemon GO players. Niantic has pledged to improve the game’s EX Raid Battles feature, with the company tweeting out the following today:

EX Raid Battles began in a beta state last month. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been received terribly well.

As Polygon notes, EX Raid Battles requires players to be regular participants in the co-op gym feature, they tend to be tied to specific locations, and some legendary Pokemon such as Mewtwo could only be obtained this way. The necessary Premium Raid pass invitations were sent out on a random basis, and some players who only won a single standard Raid battle won the Premium Raid pass whereas those who regularly battled high-level Pokemon at a variety of gyms would leave empty handed.
