Super Mario Run disappeared from the App Store earlier today. But less than a day later, it’s back up. A new update is also available.

The latest patch for Super Mario Run puts the game at version 3.0.3. Unfortunately though, the update isn’t too exciting. Nintendo says that it only implemented bug fixes.

Thanks to Nidocon for the tip.

Digital Melody released Timber Tennis on mobile earlier this year. The game is now coming to new platforms, including Switch, courtesy of Crunching Koalas.

As the title suggests, the main hook of Timber Tennis is… tennis. However, there’s more to it than that. You can upgrade skills, win trophies, compete with others locally or online, and more.

Metroid producer Yoshio Sakamoto’s involvement with the series go all the way back to the original game. He wasn’t initially assigned to the project, but that all changed when the team encountered some issues during the latter stages of development.

Speaking with Game Informer, Sakamoto reflected on the first Metroid’s creation:

“My boss told me that the Metroid team was having a very hard time, and as someone who had experience on building video game projects could I go and somehow help this game progress to release? In short, I was forcefully asked to participate. By his tone, I really smelled danger. And as I joined the project and looked around, I realized that the release date was right around the corner but the project had nothing there. Even with our limited resources and time, I figured out how we could leverage the existing components of the game to create variation and an exciting experience.”

“Metroid was one of my first experiences on a pretty big video game project, but I wasn’t sure if players would enjoy the game. I thought that it was a special game, and even then, I believed that it could be a special franchise, something that I would like to continue. Through the development of Metroid 1, I really grasped the possibilities and potential of a video game.”

The Mega Man movie is something we’ve heard about for awhile, though it has only become more concrete in recent months. That being said, it’s still a long ways off. Masayori Oka, who produced the Death Note adaptation for Netflix, gave an update in an interview with Collider.

Oka mentioned that the team “just started” working on the Mega Man movie. The project is in the early stages, and the script is currently being worked on.

Oka said:

Supper Mario Broth has posted a scan from a 2000 Nintendo Power interview with Hiroyuki Takahashi and Syugo Takahashi of Camelot. In it, the two developers discussed why Wario and Waluigi don’t have female partners like Mario and Luigi have Peach and Daisy in Mario Tennis.

The Takahashi brothers explained how they wanted Luigi to have his own partner similar to Mario and Peach. However, Shigeru Miyamoto ended up suggesting Daisy. They also wanted Wario and Waluigi to have girlfriends, but Miyamoto wasn’t interested.
