Dragon Quest attraction coming to Universal Studios Japan
Posted on 7 years ago by Matt(@OnePunchMaz) in General Gaming, News | 0 comments
Nintendo’s upcoming “Super Nintendo World” theme park at various Universal Studios parks was talked about quite a bit recently. Now, it seems like Super Nintendo World won’t be the only video game-themed attraction at Universal Studios – Square-Enix announced a collaboration with Universal Studios Japan today. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Dragon Quest, a “Real Battle Attraction” is coming to the Universal Studios park in Osaka. There, visitors will be able to grab weapons, enter dungeons and fight monsters for an authentic Dragon Quest experience.
Further details have not yet been announced so far, like the time frame for this event. The fact that this is a celebration of Dragon Quest’s 30th anniversary seems to suggest that this is a limited-time only event that won’t last very long, but we don’t know for sure yet.

Super Mario Run earned roughly $5 million in first day revenue, players spent about 16 minutes in the game
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Mobile, News | 12 Comments
Super Mario Run is finally here, and various companies are coming forward with initial launch data for the game. That includes intelligence firm Sensor Tower.
Sensor Tower says that Super Mario Run grossed over $5 million worldwide in its first 24 hours. Some countries aren’t contributing to the total as much, such as Japan. But as Sensor Tower points out, “a variety of factors are undoubtedly at play, including regional income and spending habits.” Super Mario Run also beat out Pokemon GO’s first day gross revenue by roughly 67 percent and Clash Royale by more than 400 percent.
In terms of engagement, players spent about 16 minutes in the game on its first day. That number was 22 minutes for Pokemon GO and 28 minutes for Clash Royale to compare.
It’s also worth noting that Sensor Tower also has its own figure for first day downloads, coming in at five million. We’re not making quite as big a deal out of that figure though, since the actual range could be anywhere from about 2.85 million to 5 million.

November 2016 NPD: 3DS experiences its highest monthly physical software spend ever
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 5 Comments
The November 2016 NPD report brought lots of good news for Nintendo. Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon were the big winners for Nintendo, with the two games marking the biggest debut in franchise history. The NES Classic Edition also sold nearly 200,000 units in its first month in the United States.
NPD group’s Mat Piscatella has also now revealed that 3DS experienced its highest monthly physical software spend in the history of the platform. That’s incredible to think about, given how the 3DS has been around for well over five years.
