Nintendo fans in the Scandinavian region experiencing issues with Smash Bros. Club Nintendo promotion
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News, Wii U | 4 Comments
Nintendo has a promotion running all around the world for Super Smash Bros. owners on Wii U and 3DS. By registering both games on Club Nintendo, you can receive a free soundtrack CD and access to Mewtwo DLC this spring.
We haven’t heard about too many issues pertaining to the promotion, but those in the the Scandinavian region are dealing with a major problem. Here’s what reader HÃ¥kon sent us:
It seems as though the Scandinavian region is cheated out of the Smash Bros.-promotion with the soundtrack and Mewtwo being provided to those who purchased versions for both the Wii U and the 3DS.
As the 13th of January draws closer, and the last date on which you are allowed to register games for the promotion, Bergsala (the Nordic distributor of all Nintendo games and merchandise) has yet to make any statement on how or if they will provide this promotion to the loyal fans in this region. This is by no means the first time Bergsala is unable to keep up with the content offered by the company in other regions.
I personally attempted to get a statement from Bergsala regarding this matter, but the only reply I got was that they had “no information regarding these campaigns at the moment”. Of course, this could be no more than corporate talk, but there are currently no signs that they have any plans of including us this time around either.
Seems like the Nordic region is yet again left out in the cold.
Hopefully things can get sorted out over there soon!

His words in full:

Miyamoto says a new F-Zero might be possible if Nintendo finds a new and suitable controller interface
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 53 Comments
Nintendo doesn’t appear to be working on a new F-Zero game at present, though Shigeru Miyamoto hasn’t ruled out a return to the franchise in the future.
During an interview with Smosh, Miyamoto mentioned that a new entry could be possible “if we create a new type of controller interface and we find that controller interface is particularly suited for F-Zero”.
Here are Miyamoto’s words in full:
We see a lot of other designers who are kind of making more traditional racing-style games, so we try to focus on something that feels a little bit more gamey. So maybe if we create a new type of controller interface and we find that controller interface is particularly suited for F-Zero, then maybe we’ll do something again with it in the future.

Little Mac amiibo’s stock status in question
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 2 Comments
Has the Little Mac amiibo already been discontinued at retailers? We’re not ready to jump the gun and say what’s going on either way, but there may be a reason to be somewhat concerned.
GameStop pulled its Little Mac amiibo listing on December 31. All other figures can still be located on the website. GeekParty reached out to GameStop and was told the following about the situation:
How about another retailer? Like Toys “R” Us, perhaps. When you search for the figure on Toys “R” Us’ website, Little Mac is nowhere to be found. He also seems to be appearing in the retailer’s systems as no longer active.
Again, we can’t say for sure what’s going on with Little Mac at the moment. If you happen to see him online or in-store, you should probably snag him just to be safe!
Thanks to Ryan R for the tip.
Original 3DS seemingly discontinued in the west
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 9 Comments
The original 3DS appears to have been phased out by Nintendo in North America and Europe. It’s practically impossible to find on retailer sites like Toys “R” Us, Walmart, Target, and Best Buy. Nintendo’s own website does not sell regular 3DS systems either.
There are listings for the original 3DS on GameStop’s website, though you can’t purchase one online and finding a system in store is next to impossible. Destructoid has also heard from local GameStop employees that Nintendo had outright discontinued the system, and they would no longer be receiving new stock.
The situation is similar in the UK. GameStop’s UK website and retailer GAME only show “new” results for the 3DS XL and the 2DS.
With the 3DS XL and 2DS on the market, it makes sense to phase out the original 3DS. We also have the New 3DS coming sometime this year!
Enlightened Games working on The Song of Seven for Wii U
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 1 Comment
Back in September 2013, Enlightened Games opened a Kickstarter for “Bliss”. The project was described as “a fantasy puzzle adventure game where the player makes the powerful choice to take control of their own destiny to explore a sacred and mystical land full of physical challenges, inner discovery, and healing.”
Bliss unfortunately fell well short of its Kickstarter goal. However, Enlightened Games came back in full force last year and rebooted the project as “The Song of Seven”. The Song of Seven is “an evolved version of Bliss.” It features similar themes, goals, and visuals as Bliss, but has completely new gameplay, characters, environments, and story.
Nintendo fans will be pleased to hear that The Song of Seven was confirmed for Wii U this past November. It sounds like the first chapter will be launching before the end of this year. In the meantime, take a look at a pre-alpha video shared back in June below.
