Bayonetta 2’s conceptual design highlighted in new PlatinumGames blog post
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 5 Comments
PlatinumGames updated its official blog yet again with another post about Bayonetta 2. This time around, we get to hear about the game’s conceptual design.
Check out a few excerpts below:
As you can see, the base tones for the original Bayonetta were red and black, whereas in Bayonetta 2 they’re blue (representing Bayonetta) and gold (representing the game’s enemies). Compared to the image above it, you can tell the bottom screen gives off a much brighter, vivid impression.
What was so difficult about this was that while Bayonetta’s key color was blue, the key color for Aesir’s power was blue as well. Ultimately we resolved this issue by changing this mysterious power of Aesir’s to an emerald green, but it’s still kind of hard for players to discern, so I gave Aesir his own unique line patterns in his design to draw distinction from Bayonetta.
Head on over to the PlatinumGames website for the full post.

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse likely to be priced at $40
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 55 Comments
Thanks to Kirby and the Rainbow Curse’s upcoming Japanese launch, we knew that the game would be seeing a budget release of some sort. We just weren’t entirely sure how much the price would be in the west.
New listings on EB Games and Amazon Canada seem to reveal Kirby’s updated price in North America. On both retailer sites, the game is listed for $44.99 CDN. That would translate to $39.99 in the states (based on Captain Toad’s pricing). It should end up being a pretty great value!

Youkai Watch anime confirmed for overseas territories, big new Level-5 franchise teased
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 6 Comments
The Youkai Watch anime is heading overseas, Level-5 president Akihiro Hino confirmed to Wedge Infinity. Some character names will be changed, but popular names like Whisper and Jibanyan will be kept in tact. The anime will air in the United States, Europe, and other regions.
Also while speaking with Wedge Infinity, Hino teased a new franchise coming next year that will be even bigger than Youkai Watch:
“It takes a lot of time to craft new installments of Yokai Watch, but on some weeks, we’re actually spending more time on our ‘new title.’ Around this time next year, I think we’ll have something out that’s different not just from Yokai Watch, but anything else we’ve ever done before. 2015 is going to be yet another big year of change for us. 2015 will be a year where we usher in a hit bigger than Yokai Watch.”
With Level-5’s unannounced franchise, Hino wants it to resemble the things he enjoyed as a kid, but more modernized. It will consist of games, anime, and manga.
Last but not least, Hino mentioned that Level-5 will not be moved to Tokyo since he wants to foster its current location of Fukuoka to be the ‘Hollywood’ of games.

Blood Alloy in the works for Wii U
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 0 comments
Suppressive Fire Games originally took its 2D Metroidvania project “Blood Alloy” to Kickstarter last year. Unfortunately, the project fell well short of its goal.
Suppressive Fire Games has returned with “Blood Alloy: Returns”, a “combo-multiplier-based score-chaser, similar in scope to Luftrausers or Geometry Wars.” While working on Returns, the team hopes to also continue making the original Blood Alloy – a new Metroidvania title that is expected on Wii U.
You can get a look at Blood Alloy in the video above.

A new Virtual Console title is finally coming to the Japanese 3DS Virtual Console next week. Pokemon Trading Card Game will be available on December 24 for 617 yen. This is particularly notable since Japan hasn’t received any new 3DS VC games since May.
