Little Mac is joining the Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS roster, it’s been revealed. A new trailer debuting on today’s Nintendo Direct confirms the news. We’ll have the video here shortly.


Putting this post up a bit earlier than usual. Feel free to chat away about your hopes, expectations, and whatever else is on your mind regarding today’s Nintendo Directs.

Each presentation will begin at 5 PM ET / 2 PM PT (3.5 hours from now). The North American broadcast is said to last about 41 minutes, while the Japanese one will be roughly 39 minutes.

Updates will be posted on the site throughout the presentations.

A new round of maintenance is expected to take place later today (tomorrow depending where you live) for the online services pertaining to both Wii U and 3DS. The two platforms will be seeing downtime between 9 PM PT and 12 AM PT (12 AM ET and 3 AM ET). Fortunately, the maintenance period seems to be relatively short.

SR Tronic will be forced to pay up €1 million after the Supreme Court of Munich ruled that copy devices made to play pirated games are illegal.

Nintendo intends to use this result in lawsuits against manufacturers, stores, and import companies involved with such devices. By doing so, it hopes to benefit more than 1,400 companies who contribute to the development and sale of legitimate video games.

An appeal for the verdict is a possibility for the future. However, Nintendo believes that any additional decisions would line up with current European and German rulings.

The third game in Spike Chunsoft’s Zero Escape series appears to have been put on hold. Series creator Kotaro Uchikoshi took to Twitter earlier today and confirmed that the game will be “difficult to realize” at the moment.

“A lot of budget is needed to make ZE series. We have to persuade the managers in order to obtain it,” Uchikoshi explained. Some “managers” at the company understand the franchise’s importance in the west, but the first two titles “are in the red” in Japan and did not meet sales expectations.

Despite all of this, Uchikoshi isn’t giving up. “For example, if the title which I make next bring about a good result, the wind might shift to another direction,” he said. “Or, if someone with executive ability (financer, producer, publisher or millionaire!) propose the investment, everything could go well. If there is an great investor who thinks ‘Virtue is its own reward’, I wish him/her to send me a message. If you know such a wonderful person, please induce him/her to cooperate.”
