Indie title Pixel Noir already its Kickstarter goal a few weeks back. SWDTech Games was only seeking $30,000, but that goal was surpassed less than two weeks into the campaign.

Even though Pixel Noir’s Kickstarter has nearly come to a close, a new stretch goal was just reached which will certainly please Nintendo fans. Having secured $50,000, SWDTech Games will be bringing its new project to 3DS.

Pixel Noir is a JRPG-inspired detective game, and true to its title, features a film noir backdrop. SWDTech Games says it’s sort of like a mix between Earthbound and Sin City. The game features turn-based combat, a city to explore, investigation elements, and even a Shovel Knight crossover.

You can learn more about Pixel Noir on the Kickstarter page here.

Update (10/17): Nintendo’s latest maintenance plans have been changed again. First, there will no longer be shop maintenance. Nintendo Network ID maintenance is still taking place at the times listed originally (see the very bottom of this post). Finally, Wii U and 3DS online features (rankings, etc.) will be down on Monday at the following times:

– 2 PM PT – 7 PM PT
– 5 PM ET – 10 PM ET
– 10 PM in the UK – 3 AM in the UK (Tuesday)
– 11 PM in Europe – 4 AM in Europe (Tuesday)

Update (10/16): Bumped to the top. The “All” maintenance we mentioned previously has now been updated to say “Using Nintendo Network ID”. So in addition to eShop maintenance, Nintendo Network ID will also be affected.

Original (10/14): Nintendo’s various online shops will be undergoing maintenance on Monday. That includes the Wii U and 3DS eShops, Wii Shopping Channel, and DSi Shop.

The maintenance period is planned for the following times:

– 1 PM PT – 5 PM PT
– 4 PM ET – 8 PM ET
– 9 PM in the UK – 1 AM in the UK (Tuesday)
– 10 PM in Europe – 2 AM in Europe (Tuesday)

For Wii U and 3DS, in addition to eShop maintenance, Nintendo listed “All”. I’m not quite sure what that means, but perhaps something else will be affected aside from the eShops.

Ghost Police, a “a non-shooting shooter” with a retro art style, is already guaranteed to happen. However, the project just recently launched a Kickstarter in hopes of adding some extra bells and whistles. One stretch goal in the campaign would allow for a 3DS version.

In Ghost Police, players manipulate the world by using a special brush of sorts. Players will be navigating two ships simultaneous through two overlapping levels of obstacles and enemies, though power-ups – which increase the size of your brush and your timer gauge – will help you along the way.

Ghost Police’s main funding goal is £10,500, and if that goal is met, Jake Kaufman will be brought in to handle the soundtrack. The 3DS stretch goal lies further out at £100,000.

You can find Ghost Police’s Kickstarter here.

Toki Tori 1 was announced for the 3DS eShop back in March. There hasn’t been a whole lot of news about it since, but the game is still very much in the works. Two Tribes said on Twitter today that the studio hopes to have it done before the end of this year.

Two Tribes has also commented on what we can expect from the 3DS version. It will come with a time rewind feature, more levels, and improved visuals/audio.

More:

Grandes Planos has launched a Kickstarter for Baku Baku Revival, a new take on the SEGA game that saw release roughly two decades ago.

Baku Baku Revival will offer the same puzzle gameplay as the original. This time around, one of the main hooks will be the inclusion of online multiplayer.

Here’s an overview of the project:

Baku Baku Revival is a falling block puzzle arcade game. There are 2 types of blocks: animals, and food. Each animal has its favored food, and when it is aligned, the animal will leave its block and eat all the food which is adjacent. Larger groups of nearby food of the same type result in higher scores, likewise, the player is encouraged to create combos, and multiply the score. For each combo, the player will also send blocks to the adversary, which will complicate the strategy, creating an extremely addicting game dynamics. The match ends when one of the opponents can’t place any more blocks on their game stage.

High definition and colorful 3D graphics, making full use of the latest Unity engine
Vibrant animations will make the game thoroughly enjoyable to those who play and to those who watch it being played
Deceptively easy gameplay grows in strategy and complexity as you progress the campaign
Embrace the global challenge to be the best with multiplayer opponents from across the world
Original Soundtrack created by composer Oleg Pliasunov. It’s catchy and youthful themes will run through your mind even when you’re not playing
Extremely addictive and fun to play

Baku Baku Revival’s Kickstarter is located here. The game needs 40,000 Swiss Francs (roughly $42,000) for funding, 75,000 Swiss Francs to secure a Wii U version, and 100,000 Swiss Francs for a 3DS version.
