3DS eShop

Originally wanted to post this yesterday… but things get delayed when there’s a Nintendo Direct!

Best Buy will be holding another 20% off sale for eShop cards starting on February 23. Consumers will be able to purchase $50 cards for $40, $35 cards for $28, and $20 cards for $16. The sale will last through March 1.

Also worth mentioning, Best Buy will be providing a $25 gift card with the purchase of a Mario & Luigi Wii U Deluxe Set. Sonic Lost World is getting a $20 discount as well for the week of February 23.

Thanks to PattonFiend for the tip.

Comcept CEO Keiji Inafune will be joined by 8-4 executive director Mark MacDonald for a panel at this year’s Game Developers Conference.

The event, titled “Meanwhile, In Japan”, will cover lessons learned from crowdfunding Mighty No. 9 and other trends in the Japanese game industry. Inafune and MacDonald will also discuss the advantages/disadvantages of creating modern Japanese games aimed at a western audience, the response to new business models from a developer and player perspective, and the progress of the Japanese indie scene.

Here’s the full overview posted on Gamasutra:

Circle Entertainment has pinned down a final release date for Quell Reflect. The game is expected out on February 20 in North America via the eShop.

Super Mario Bros. Deluxe is about as small as you’d expect. In order to download the Virtual Console title, just 54 blocks are needed.

3DS owners in Europe/Australia who participated in the Nintendo Network Promotion should be receiving their free codes for Super Mario Bros. Deluxe soon.

Nintendo has launched a pair of newly-translated Iwata Asks discussions today. You can find one for Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney here and another for Nintendo Pocket Football Club here.

With less than a day to go in its campaign, Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians has been funded on Kickstarter. Total funds on the site have exceeded $600,000.

Unfortunately, with such little time remaining, the game won’t be able to reach its 3DS stretch goal. Playdek had been seeking $1.5 million in order to make a portable version for Nintendo’s system.

So what’s Unsung Story’s future on 3DS? Is there still a chance of it happening even without the 3DS stretch goal target having been met? That might just be wishful thinking on my part, but we’ll see.
