Happy days on 3DS with Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer (Europe)

Nintendo is going all out for the European launch of Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer. The game is receiving new hardware bundles, cover plates and amiibo cards.
Nintendo is offering one special amiibo card with a limited number of copies when Happy Home Designer launches on October 2. There will also be additional amiibo cards that are being sold separately in packs of three. All packs will always come with a special card, which features a character whose house you won’t be able to build without using its amiibo card.
Other releases planned for Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer in Europe include:
· New Nintendo 3DS + Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer Pack: a white New Nintendo 3DS system with a digital copy of Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer* , a unique set of cover plates** and one special amiibo card
· New Nintendo 3DS XL Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer Edition: a white New Nintendo 3DS XL system with a unique, game-themed cover design, a digital copy of Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer* and one special amiibo card
· Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer + NFC Reader/Writer Pack: a physical copy of the Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer game, one special amiibo card and the NFC Reader/Writer accessory
· Standalone NFC Reader/ Writer accessory
· New Nintendo 3DS cover plates No. 5 (featuring K.K. Slider), 6 (featuring Isabelle) and 27 (featuring a variety of animals from the series).
· Series 1 Animal Crossing amiibo cards Pack: each pack contains 1 special amiibo card and 2 regular amiibo cards)

Red New 3DS XL heading to Japan on August 27

Japan is getting a new color for New 3DS systems next month. On its Twitter account, Nintendo announced that the red variation is launching on August 27.

First 3rd party New 3DS cover plate being released in Japan

The Game & Watch themed cover plate seen above is being released in Japan soon. It’s notable for being the first 3rd party cover plate with an actual design (not counting some clear / transparent ones). However, at 2,970 yen it will also be a bit more expensive than most other cover plates since it comes with a working clock, alarm, timer and thermometer.

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth Wii U file size, New 3DS patch on the way

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth came out on both the Wii U and 3DS eShops in North America today. On Wii U, the game’s download weighs in at nearly 400 MB.
We should also mention that a patch is already on the way for The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth on New 3DS. This will address a particular bug in the game.
Creator Edmund McMillen shared the update news on Twitter with the following message:
just a heads up for 3ds users, we have a patch for the invisible/music cut out bug. should go up once nintendo allows it.

SEGA: no current plans for more 3D Classics, watching the market, New 3DS interest

3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2 marks the end of SEGA’s second wave of 3D Classics. Could we eventually see additional games be given the same treatment though?
For now, SEGA is saying that there are “no plans for additional SEGA 3D Classics”. But producer Producer Yosuke Okunari did tell Nintendo World Report that the company is monitoring the sales performance of the other games. He also expressed interest in working with the New 3DS.
Below are Okunari’s full comments:
If the uptake for New 3DS is very strong, I would really like to give it a shot, yes. We currently have no plans for additional SEGA 3D Classics, though. But we are keeping a close eye on how they are doing in the marketplace.

Europe getting three Animal Crossing New 3DS cover plates on October 2

Nintendo is bringing three new Animal Crossing cover plates for the New 3DS to Europe. That information is confirmed by the series’ official Facebook page, which posted the image above earlier today. Each one of the cover plates is due out on October 2.

June 2015 NPD: Wii U/3DS sales up 20% year-over-year, 3DS up over 40% over same point last year

Nintendo has issued a statement to the June 2015 NPD report.
In the U.S., Nintendo says that combined Wii U and 3DS hardware sales in 2014 thus far have risen by over 20 percent year-over-year. The company added that 3DS hardware on its own has increased by more than 40 percent compared to sales obtained during the same point last year.
The full statement reads:
“Through the first six months of 2015, combined sales of Wii U and Nintendo 3DS systems have increased by more than 20 percent over the same time frame in 2014. Much of this growth can be attributed to Nintendo 3DS and the new momentum created by the launch of New Nintendo 3DS XL on Feb. 13. So far this year, sales of Nintendo 3DS hardware have increased by more than 40 percent over sales at the same point last year.”
Nintendo selling exclusive New 3DS cover plates as part of bundles for Japan

Nintendo has unveiled a couple of new cover plates for New 3DS systems in Japan. At least for now, these will only be sold as part of bundles that are aimed at female consumers.
Each bundle features a white New 3DS system and AC adapter. Additionally, buyers will receive a Madras Check or Pastel Dot cover plate depending on the bundle they choose. Pricing is set at 16,990 each.
Yamada Denki is selling the Madras Check bundle as of today. Aeon Stores will have the Pastel Dot version starting on July 30.

GameStop is running a new trade-in promotion for the New 3DS XL. If you trade in a 2DS, 3DS, or 3DS XL (or even a Vita), you’ll receive $100 that can be used towards the purchase of Nintendo’s latest handheld. It’s currently unclear when the offer will expire.
