Game Informer recently spoke with the developers behind Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser Jr.’s Journey. The publication caught up with Yoshihiko Maekawa and Akira Otani, the producers at AlphaDream and Nintendo respectively (among others). Maekawa and Otani commented on why the latest 3DS remake isn’t on Switch, why Partners in Time wasn’t revisited, Luigi’s role in the series, and more.

We’ve rounded up some of the more interesting excerpts from the interview below. Find the full discussion here.

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe

Yesterday, we reported on the sales success of New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe in the UK: the game sold 24.8% more copies than the original Wii U version did when it launched. However, it turns out that that wasn’t the full picture. Gamesindustry.biz reports that sales data from several major retailers was missing in yesterday’s report; the updated sales data from GfK shows that New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe actually sold 56% more copies than the Wii U version did when it launched.

Additonally, the sales data also reveals that Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition sold the best on Nintendo Switch. 49% percent of the game’s sales were on Nintendo’s platform, compared to 43% on Playstation 4 and 8% on Xbox One.

Early last year, we learned that Fishing Star, which is originally a mobile game, is getting an updated release on Nintendo Switch. Today, the latest issue of Famitsu revealed that the game will be called Fishing Star: World Tour. It’ll contain over 180 species of fish, over 40 different fishing locations and over 70 pieces of fishing gear and equipment. The most noteworthy piece of information about this game, however, is that it’ll support the fishing rod Toy-Con that’s part of the Nintendo Labo Variety Kit, something developer GREE hinted at last year.

Fishing Star: World Tour is set for a digital release on the Japanese eShop on January 31. No word yet on a Western release date.
