Nintendo has some new maintenance planned on Wednesday/ Thursday. Certain network services such as online play, rankings, etc. may be impacted on Wii U and 3DS.

The maintenance schedule is as follows:

– 4 PM PT (February 22) – 5 PM PT (February 22)
– 7 PM ET (February 22) – 8 PM ET (February 22)
– 12 AM in the UK (February 23) – 1 AM in the UK (February 23)
– 1 AM in Europe (February 23) – 2 AM in Europe (February 23)

Famitsu has published an online preview for Voez, a soon-to-be-released rhythm game for the Japanese Switch eShop. Find the latest details and screenshots below, courtesy of Gematsu.

– During the game’s music parts, the screen is spread out into several lanes
– You’ll see diamond-shaped note icons falling from the top of the screen
– Build up your score by tapping, holding, and swiping on the notes as they overlap the bar at the bottom of the screen
– The lanes fluctuate and move left and right depending on the song, so you can enjoy the game visually as well
– Over 100 songs across all genres from both Japanese and Taiwanese creators
– Song difficulties range from Easy to Hard to Special
– Whether you’re a seasoned rhythm game player or not good at rhythm games at all, you can play the game at your own level

Original: Switch systems only come with 32GB of storage (technically a bit less than that actually), so most owners are probably going to want to purchase a microSD card. And thankfully, Amazon is having a “sale” of sorts today.

Customers have voted Amazon number one in corporate reputation. To celebrate, the retailer is letting consumers use the code BIGTHANKS today on orders over $50 to save $8.62. That means you can nab the SanDisk Ultra 200GB microSD card for $61.32.

By the way, the code doesn’t work on games. You may find use for it with something else though – like accessories.

Without a Switch pre-order, it will be hard to buy one on launch day for sure. However, in a news release GameStop said that they will have a ‘limited supply’ of  Switch units for customers that enter the store and don’t have a pre-order.

“Customers who were not able to pre-order the system are encouraged to attend GameStop’s midnight launch events.”

We all know what happened with the NES Classic and how few units ended up on sale at video game stores around the world. So maybe this time it will be relatively possible to grab a Switch without having it pre-ordered online beforehand.

Additionally, GameStop have also announced that they will sell only two Switch bundles:

• Bundle 1: Nintendo Switch + Switch Pro Controller + The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – $429.99
• Bundle 2: Bundle 1 + Piggyback’s official guide to Breath of the Wild – $454.99

We don’t know when these bundles will be up on their website, but we’ll update with any new information.

Studio Koba is trying to fund their first game, Narita Boy, using the famous Kickstarter platform. Should this project meet the goal of raising €200,000 , they have promised to create a port for Switch.

Narita Boy seems to be a ‘retro futuristic pixel game’ inspired by old adventure games like Castlevania and Double Dragon, but with an 80’s Tron-like arcade esthetic that suits it really well. Here are the features that they promised to deliver if they reach the base €120,000 goal:

• Pure handcrafted pixel sprites with rich and complex animations.

• A homage to the 80’s that tastes like retro but is also new. Narita Boy reloads the creative canons to find an unique style that combines the past and the future of video games

• Classic 2D scroller action with new exotic time and dimension jump mechanics, RPG elements and amazing worlds to explore; from the streets of the 80s to the weird futuristic landscapes of another dimension.

• An awesome Soundtrack inspired by the glory days of analog synthesizers.

• The Story will put you through a journey between dimensions, neglecting the ebbs and turns of Time itself. Meet weird, unique characters and wield powerful and strange magic.

• Jump, fight, find your own way in order to progress, travel across dimensions and let yourself be amazed by the amazing retro futuristic universe of Narita Boy.

• Find items to upgrade your digital magic and your (meta)physical strength. Find vehicles to traverse greater distances and use your instincts to find well hidden secrets.

• Easy to learn, simple to play, but a real challenge to Master.

As of the writing of this post, the Narita Boy project has raised almost €25,000, but there’s still 32 days to go. Make sure to check out their Kickstarter page and back this game if you are interested on playing it on the go with Switch.

Casual Bit Games has been working on Battle Princess Madelyn for quite some time. The action-adventure platformer still has a few months of development to go, but the upcoming title – inspired by the likes of Ghouls N’ Ghosts and Wonder Boy 3: The Dragon’s Trap – is now confirmed for Switch and Wii U.

Battle Princess Madelyn has ten levels, comprised of five stages each (and “some that are cunningly hidden). It includes replayable areas, “with many to unlock as each surprise heralds new challenges – as well as weapons and enemies.” All types of players can enjoy the game thanks to self-adjusting difficulty.

Regarding presentation, a professional children’s author is on board with hand drawn artwork bringing the game to life. John McCarthy of Nintendo Quest fame will be providing orchestrated audio while a retro style FM/PCM arcade style soundtrack will be present thanks to Gryzor87.

See what Battle Princess Madelyn is all about in the video below. The game should be finished by late 2017.

Troll and I is in the works for Switch, Maximum Games announced today. The game is planned for release this spring.

Troll and I is a third-person action-adventure title created by Spiral House. Here’s an overview:

“In Troll and I, players will be tasked with strategically utilizing Troll and Otto’s unique strengths to overcome the many enemies they will face in the Scandinavian backcountry – whether they be the human hunters pursuing Troll for their own greedy ends or mythical orcs known as ‘Ahky’ unleashed from the depths of the earth. Solo players can seamlessly switch between Otto and Troll in-game, using Troll’s massive size and strength to throw boulders at enemies or Otto’s speed and resourcefulness to stealthily take out a lone hunter without raising an alarm. Troll and I also supports split-screen gameplay for couch co-op, as two heads, and pairs of hands, are always better than one.

Throughout the game, players will encounter various natural resources when playing as Otto, and should make use of Otto’s keen senses and attunement to nature to track down wildlife, which can be hunted and used to heal him during battle. Otto will exploit the materials of the forest to fashion spears and other weapons that will prove crucial to the duo’s survival. Otto’s connection to his surroundings and the environment around him plays a key role in the player successfully navigating treacherous situations.”

On Switch, Troll and I can be used for single-player and split-screen co-op gameplay. Maximum Games intends to share more details about the Switch version at a later date.
