Switch

Two weeks ago, we reported on the success of the Switch in France. Nearly 400,000 units of Nintendo’s newest system had been sold there at that point. It seems like Nintendo has some high expectations for the rest of the year as well – in an interview with Le Monde, Philippe Lavoué, general director of Nintendo France has stated that Nintendo hopes to sell another 400,000 Switch units in the next ten weeks in France. It’s an ambitious goal, but with France traditionally being Nintendo’s strongest market in Europe and the release of Super Mario Odyssey today, it’s certainly possible.

Lavoué also shared the sales figures of the two best-selling Switch games in France so far: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has sold 280,000 copies while Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has been sold 260,000 times.

It’s the end of the week, which means we’re getting another new weapon in Splatoon (in addition to the return of Blackbelly Skatepark). The Gold Dynamo Roller has the same stats as the regular Dynamo Roller. It comes with the Splat Bomb sub-weapon and the Ink Armor special. It’ll be available in Japan and Australia tomorrow around noon, early in the morning in Europe and later tonight in North America.

Switch stock has been a big issue since the system launched earlier this year. It has undoubtedly improved, but it’s still not quite where it needs to be. In places like Japan, the situation is still very frustrating with continued lotteries just for an opportunity to buy a Switch.

In an interview with The Verge, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime commented on Switch’s supply situation once again. Being unable to meet demand is something he’s not happy with, and he says Nintendo is “working hard to satisfy as much demand as possible.”

Reggie stated:
