Switch lifecycle seventh year

During Nintendo’s latest financial results briefing, president Shuntaru Furukawa was asked to comment on Switch’s lifecycle.

With the console celebrating its sixth anniversary next month and entering its seventh year, Furukawa stated the challenge will be “finding ways to encourage users who are considering new purchases, replacement purchases, and additional purchases to pick up a Nintendo Switch.” Furukawa pointed to the importance of new games and evergreen titles, maintaining engagement with the system, and increasing contact with Nintendo through The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Super Nintendo World.

Also reiterated that there is no need to change its pricing strategies for hardware or software at this time.

Furukawa stated:

During Nintendo’s latest financial results briefing, president Shuntaru Furukawa spoke about the differing software sales for Switch in North America, Europe, Japan, and Asia. One investor brought up how sales seemed to decline in the Americas.

Furukawa acknowledged that to be the case, explaining that various factors contributed “such as the absence of sizable growth in sales of evergreen titles, particularly during the third quarter (October-December).” Japan saw a boost with Splatoon 3 and Pokemon Scarlet / Violet. Europe saw Nintendo Switch Sports and Mario Strikers: Battle League sales increase last holiday. Finally, Pokemon did very well in Asia.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe new characters

In the flood of news this week stemming from the latest Nintendo Direct, something fans may have missed is that the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass DLC will be adding even more returning characters in the future.

For the first three waves, only new tracks were added. However, for the fourth round, Nintendo announced that Birdo is on the way. Confirmation of even more characters were confirmed in the Nintendo Direct recap we posted, but that was something may probably missed. We should be seeing at least two more roster additions later in 2023.
