Wii U

Runbow’s latest update is now live. Players can download version 1.3 to play as Shantae as of today. On top of that, 13AM Games implemented a number of new fixes.

In other Runbow news, the Deluxe retail version is now moved to November 1. It’s thankfully a rather small delay.

The Hyrule Warriors’ Twitter has unveiled Ravio, who will be joining the games’ cast in the Link Between Worlds pack on October 31. The pack will include another character (who was previously leaked) and a new Adventure Map for Hyrule Warriors Legends on 3DS, but those have yet to be revealed.

A new episode of Japanese show Game Center DX shows off The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It’s a rather lengthy look too, clocking at 40 minutes (although not all of that time is gameplay). The show’s members even chat with Eiji Aonuma near the end. Note that the footage is still the Wii U version, though. Check it out below:

It’s time for the latest Famitsu‘s most wanted games chart! Pokemon Sun/Moon, Dragon Quest XI, and Zelda: Breath of the Wild are all in the top 10.

Head past the break for the full chart. All votes were cast between October 6 and October 12.

A Japanese tweet has been making the rounds over the past few hours about what one person tied to the investor-side of Nintendo relayed from the company. Apparently, Switch is intended to be a home console successor (Wii U). Nintendo’s home and handheld systems are still separate, with a 3DS successor coming at some point in the future.

I can’t personally verify the source, so it’s slightly dubious for now (and hence the rumor part). That being said, Nintendo has sort of talked about how Switch is intended to be the company’s next console. Plans could also change in the future depending on how Switch plans out.

Thanks to Justin A for the tip.

With the Switch having been announced earlier today, it might be easy for some to forget about Nintendo’s two current gaming platforms: Wii U and 3DS. With Switch, Nintendo told Polygon that it’s “a home gaming system first and foremost.” They also shared a few words about Wii U and 3DS.

With 3DS, Nintendo noted that “there’s still a huge hunger for new games”, and “many more games” are on the way. As for Wii U, it’ll become “harder to find” at retail.

The full statement reads:

“Nintendo Switch is a home gaming system first and foremost. We have made no announcement regarding the future of Nintendo 3DS. Obviously with sales of almost 60 million 3DS portables worldwide, there’s still a huge hunger for new games, such as Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. There are many more games in the pipeline.

We have nothing to announce about the production status of Wii U. We announced in April 2016 that as we prepare for the launch of Nintendo Switch in March of 2017, Nintendo will ship 800,000 Wii U hardware units to the global market for this fiscal year. As a result, the inventory of Wii U hardware at retail will become harder to find. We encourage anyone who wants Wii U to communicate with their preferred retail outlet to monitor availability.”
