Some of the folks who hacked Mario Kart Wii are now focusing their attention on Mario Kart 8. While their efforts are in the very early stages, the video above shows the ability to rename courses, changes pertaining to music, and more.

The hackers note in their YouTube video, “None of this is in any state to be released at present, and it’s unlikely that we ever will in the interest of preventing cheaters”.

Next Level Games

Next Level Games’ Ken Yeeloy, in a recent interview, sounded off on several topics. Yeeloy commented on the studio’s development process, how being a second-party Nintendo dev affects projects, projects in the works (nothing could be revealed as expected), some continued interest in Punch-Out!!, and more.

Read on below for a few of Yeeloy’s words.

The latest blog post on the Platinum Games blog was translated over on NeoGAF and covers Damage Motion in Bayonetta 2. Here’s a summary:

  • Blog post comes from Takaaki Yamaguchi, lead motion designer for Bayonetta 2
  • Talks about what a Motion Designer does – Gives movement to anything in the game that requires motion
  • Important to make sure characters don’t look like they’re stumbling around, making sure the main character feels right, making enemy movement comprehensible etc.
  • Working on a sequel meant that everything from the original had to be carried over and if possible, made better
  • The motion when landing a deathblow is defined by the right reaction from an enemy and is absolutely crucial in an action game
  • If not done properly, the sense of satisfaction is incredibly deflated

If you’d like to see what Yamaguchi is talking about in action, check out the videos on the blog post.

Bayonetta 2’s multiplayer will let you play as multiple characters, according to the game’s website.

A notice posted on the European page states:

“Choose from a range of powerful characters, and give angels and demons a beating that’s as brutal as it is beautiful.”

Bayonetta and Jeanne have already been confirmed for the game’s multiplayer known as “Infinite Tag Climax”. Who else might be included?
