Across all of Nintendo’s mobile apps, downloads have surpassed the 800 million mark. That’s according to president Shuntaro Furukawa, who shared the figure during a financial results briefing today.
Fire Emblem Heroes has been Nintendo’s most profitable mobile game to date. The company has also released Mario Kart Tour, Super Mario Run, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, Pikmin Bloom, and Dragalia Lost. The last one in that list, Dragalia Lost, will close its servers at the end of this month.
Over 36 million people have subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa revealed today. That number was divulged during a financial results briefing.
At this time last year, the subscription total for Nintendo Switch Online was at 32 million.
Furukawa said during the briefing today:
Nintendo has provided an updated look at the age distribution of annual playing users on Switch, which we have above. President Shuntaro Furukawa pointed out in a briefing today that there are all types of users ranging from kids to seniors. Over the past year, the number of annual playing users has grown across all age groups.
Also highlighted is a graph of annual playing users. This is the number of users, out of all Nintendo Accounts registered to Switch systems, who played software on the device during the given 12-month period. Furukawa pointed out that “multiple people play on the same Nintendo Switch, which means that hardware sell-through numbers are not the maximum number of annual playing users.”
Switch saw about 30% of its sales in the current fiscal year from units bought as additional systems
Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has provided insight into Switch sales for the current fiscal year, revealing that 30 percent of units sold “were purchased to serve as an additional system.”
Although the majority of the console’s sales stem from brand new purchases, the platform is also boosted by previous owners. Some are looking to upgrade or simply change out their version for something such as a special edition.
New information relayed by Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa reveals that over 290 million Nintendo Accounts have been made worldwide. Furukawa passed that tidbit along during a financial briefing today.
Also mentioned is that the company “will continue to use Nintendo Account to build long-term relationships with people who come in contact with our games through various IP initiatives.”
