Capcom has been working with its RE Engine a few years now, but it wasn’t until 2021 that we started to see Switch games make use of the technology. Monster Hunter Rise was a major game that has the RE Engine as its base.
As part of the 2021 Capcom Integrated Report, programmer Kotaro Miyabe spoke about developing Monster Hunter Rise using the RE Engine with Switch in mind. Read his full comments below.
Shuntaro Furukawa managed to make it to the very top of Nintendo as the company’s president. Tatsumi Kimishima briefly held the position following the sudden passing of Satoru Iwata, but Furukawa took over in 2018 and has stayed there since.
In a piece on Nikkei, Furukawa shared some background on his experience with Nintendo and joining the company. As it turns out, he didn’t really play most of the Big N’s games and instead was more interested in third-party titles. But after receiving a suggestion to play Super Mario Kart, he started to understand Nintendo’s greatness.
One of the big pieces of Nintendo news this week concerns the eShop, as in one way, the digital store will be ending on both Wii U and 3DS. Starting in late March 2023, it will be closing down for business on these platforms. New purchases will no longer be possible.
Many Wii U and 3DS games have made their way over to Switch, but a ton have also stayed behind. That means a lot of hidden gems will be left behind without a way for new players to get their hands on them once March 2023 rolls by.

Today, Bandai Namco and Arc System Works set a release date for the latest roster inclusion for Dragon Ball FighterZ, Android 21 (Lab Coat).
This character was previously announced a couple of months ago in December. However, a specific release date wasn’t provided at the time. We now know that all Switch players can get their hands on the character starting on February 24, 2022.
Dear Villagers and Midgar Studio have gone live with a new launch trailer for Edge of Eternity. The game will soon be arriving consoles, including Switch – though in a cloud format.

New data has revealed the best-selling games of 2021 in Spain. While FIFA 22 came out on top, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were right in second at 228,000 copies sold. Gunborg: Dark Matters, an upcoming arcade platformer, has been announced for Switch by publisher Red Art Games and developer Ricpau Studio. The initiall rollout will be taking place in March.

Listings from the ESRB and Amazon UK have outed Wonder Boy Collection, a package containing four classic titles. Wonder Boy, Wonder Boy in Monster Land, Wonder in Monster World, and Monster World IV will all be included.
For the most part, these games will be offered just like they were back in the day. However, some additions will be included such as a filter, shader, rewind option, and art gallery.

Publisher Serenity Forge and developer Funselektor Labs announced this week that the top-down minimalist driving game Absolute Drift is getting a physical release on Switch. While it’s been on the system since the end of 2020, the title has only been offered as a digital download on the eShop.
The Absolute Drift: Premium Physical Edition will include a collectible folded poster that matches the minimalist style of the game, a stylized sticker sheet, and a 3D lenticular card.
