Donkey Kong could be getting his own movie, based on a new filing.
Nintendo and Universal Pictures jointly filed a copyright for an untitled project based on the franchise. The listing doesn’t include any details, but it’s classified as a motion picture. That doesn’t really leave much room to speculate other than a new Donkey Kong movie.
Listings on the eShops provide file sizes for a bunch of Nintendo Switch games. These include Misc. A Tiny Tale, Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, and more.

For the longest time, fans wondered what that unknown “C” button would do on Nintendo Switch 2. After months of speculation, it turned out to be for GameChat, which is the system’s 2’s headlining social feature. GameChat lets you connect with up to twelve users at the same time, and up to four players can share their screens together all at once. At first, players were unimpressed with GameChat’s poor frame rate – indeed, in the final version of the service, screen share feeds run rather poorly. Many have since written off GameChat, and that’s understandable to an extent. You can always just use something like Discord for voice chat instead. But that doesn’t mean GameChat is useless, in our opinion – we’ve spent several hours with it and actually feel like it’s a solid addition to the Nintendo Switch 2’s lineup of features.
Nintendo’s 85th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders took place last week, and is tradition, shareholders voted on the election of its directors. There aren’t any huge surprises as everyone was reelected, including president Shuntaro Furukawa and Shigeru Miyamoto.
The only new person here is Kazuhiko Hachiya. Nintendo believes he can “provide valuable advice” given his “broad experience and insight in the field of art, and as a software developer and business executive”. Nintendo says Hachiya “has a wide range of achievements, including the creation of various works of media art utilizing digital technology and the development of an email client, and has served in key positions at Tokyo University of the Arts.”
