If you’ve ever longed to control a pair of sentient taiko drums and fight alongside Marie Antoinette to prevent the space-time continuum from collapsing on itself, then the Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythmic Adventure games were custom-made for you. Once exclusive to the 3DS in Japan, Bandai Namco has now brought its role playing taiko adventures to the west for the first time. Taiko rhythm gameplay and RPG mechanics might seem like an odd blend at first blush, so a major question naturally arises: are these roleplaying spinoffs an offbeat adventure, or do they stick to a solid rhythm? Let’s strike up a drum line and find out.

During the DS and 3DS eras, you may have heard of something called Nintendo Zone. It was more widely used during the DS days, but the main idea was that you could connect to the service at certain places like Best Buy and access content such as demos and trailers, services, and more. Nintendo originally sent DS cartridges to these locations which would hold all of the Nintendo Zone data. Later on, there was a more efficient process once the DSi was created.
Nintendo eventually stripped back the original DSi hardware, leaving a single touch screen, two LEDs, and a charging port. Locations that had these systems were also given a new cartridge that could connect to a server for all of the latest content. That way Nintendo wouldn’t need to continually send out new DS cards.

When Super Nintendo World opens in Japan, visitors will be able to stop by the 1-Up Factory. The area will house all sorts of merchandise, including some exclusive items. One of these products is the Tokotoko Mario toy.
We heard about this a bit during the Super Nintendo World Direct, but we now have a few more details and photos. The toy will be sold in two versions – with the Warp Pipe or Red Shell. You can pose Mario with the Warp Pipe bundle while the Red Shell version comes with a Super Nintendo World flag.
