Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime will be appearing on The Tonight Show several hours from now. The company’s Twitter page has now acknowledged this, and is putting expectations in check as well.

Super Mario Run is just over a week away – it launches on December 15.
The NES Classic Edition, otherwise known as the Nintendo Classic Mini, is off to a fast start in France. While 100,000 units were shipped, that wasn’t enough to meet demand. Nintendo sold through all of its pre-orders and wasn’t really able to sell the hardware through other means due to a lack of stock.
Part of the NES Classic Edition’s success can be attributed to its demographic. Rather than core gamers, the average consumer has expressed the most interest.
Nintendo remains committed to sending out more NES Classic Edition units to retailers, including France. Shipments will continue this month and into 2017.
Update: The Pokemon cover plates have now sold out.
Original: The Nintendo online store refreshed its stock of New 3DS cover plates today. Charizard and Blastoise are the two main highlights, as both were originally included in the system bundle that launched several months ago. All cover plates currently in stock can be found here.

USGamer caught up with Nick Wozniak from Yacht Club Games and managed to obtain some additional details about Specter of Tournament, the next expansion for Shovel Knight. We’ve rounded up the important tidbits below, though the full article is located here.
– Free to everyone who owns Shovel Knight
– being pushed as “standalone” so casual observers understand that it’s more than a simple reskin with a new character
– May also make Specter of Torment a true standalone release, though they wouldn’t elaborate on what form they would take
– Set before the original Shovel Knight
– Follows Specter Knight as he recruits the Order of No Quarter
– Specter Knight can wall climb and dash slash
– Yacht Club is remixing his levels
– New screens as well as new art
– You might recognize “one or two screens if you really know the old game,” but otherwise it will very different
– Players can choose any level they want
– All boss battles have been redone
– Harder/easier stages like that of Mega Man
Apple made its “Best of” selections for 2016 yesterday. Although Pokemon GO didn’t win “Best iPhone App” or “Game of the Year”, it was chosen for a different category. Apple named it the “Breakout Hit” of 2016.

The developers behind Minecraft: Wii U Edition teamed up with Nintendo earlier this year to bring special Mario content to the game. Fans have since found unused content from images included in the files, showing different skins that were originally going to be used.
Hooktail (from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door) was as least considered as the Ender Dragon instead of Gobblegut. Also shown is Midbus as the Pigs and Yoshi as the Horses. Lastly, we’re able to see the Ender Chest with a Mr. I-themed design instead of the Shy Guy-themed design it has in the final release.
It’s worth noting that the screenshot with the Yoshi horses was used in the “Horses” section of the “How to Play” menu, before the patch which added the Battle Mini Game.
