Amiibo

Target has started sending out an internal memo about next week’s Nintendo releases. A good portion of the letter is about the new amiibo, which launch on May 29.

The big takeaway here is that Target expects quick sell-outs (as expected), but figures “will not be replenished.” It’s also worth stating that there will be a limit of two amiibo characters per guest, and Lucina/Robin won’t be offered “in low-volume stores.”

You can get a look at the memo in full above.

Reddit user “mast3r_sword” has come up with an incredibly impressive custom amiibo. The Ice Climbers have been created from scratch – box and all.

mast3r_sword obtained a base model in 3D, did some retopology, and modeled/sculpted it until he managed to get the Ice Climbers in a pose inspired from Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Naturally, this original amiibo won’t work in any game, though the base can be opened and a chip from another figure can be installed.

I continue to be amazed by the original amiibo creations people are coming up with. I know I could never make something like this!

Rumors have been circulating about a restock of the Meta Knight amiibo at Best Buy, and Nintendo confirmed last week that the character would be restocked along with other figures “over the next few days”. Now we may know when that will be taking place.

Best Buy is rumored to be obtaining new Meta Knight amiibo shipments on May 20. However, it won’t be until May 29 until new units begins to appear in stores.

May 29 is certainly turning out to be a big day for amiibo given the release of new Smash Bros. and Splatoon figures. Let’s not forget about silver Mario as well!

The Lucario and King Dedede amiibo are starting to reappear at Toys “R” Us – well, at least in one state. A Reddit user from Kansas managed to obtain both figures today. This could be an indication that other Toys “R” Us outlets around the United States will soon be receiving new inventory as well.

Aside from Lucario and King Dedede, the Marth amiibo should begin showing up again at Toys “R” Us starting on May 29. A separate Reddit user posted this photo earlier today:
