PhobosLab has ironed out XType Plus’s major bug (freezes systems when accessing online leaderboards) and has already submitted an update. It’s currently in testing, and if all goes well, it should be out soon.

That means XType Plus should be up on the Wii U eShop in the very near fuure. Also, those who purchased the game in Europe before its removal will be able to update their game in order to patch the bug.

The 3DS version of Dragon Fantasy: Book I was made official through an official announcement published by Muteki today.

The game will feature several additions/changes, including:

– Ogden now has allies so that he doesn’t have to grind by his lonesome
– Bottom screen gives players info such as a map, quest log, inventory screen, beastiary
– Improved inventory system with sorting and filtering
– Purchase multiple items at once
– 3D support

Random battles have also been removed from Dragon Fantasy: Book I – for the most part anyway. Battles are still random on the world map, but not in towns, caves, dungeons, or caverns. In these areas, monsters will appear on screen and will take a step each time the hero does. You can choose to face monsters on their own terms or even avoid them completely.

Dragon Fantasy: Book I is currently “in the final testing phases before submission”. You can find screenshots from the game above.

QubicGames’s arcade puzzle game “Lucha Amigos” appears to be destined for Nintendo’s portable. While it’s only confirmed for mobile devices at present, the studio says it’s “likely to be in the future ported to Nintendo 3DS as well.”

Here’s an overview as to what Lucha Amigos offers:

This arcade puzzle game will take you to Mexico where the daily routine is broken by a gang of evil cacti stealing all the water!

Saloon’s glasses are dry, wells are empty, baby turtles’ armbands are useless…don’t let this tragedy happen! Team up with the lucha amigos to chase away the spiny vilains.

Lucha Amigos features a colorful atmosphere, a top-notch Mexican music inspired soundtrack and so far 100 levels and 7 turtles with unique abilities.

Dan Adelman, one of the men in charge of leading Nintendo’s indie efforts, has left the company after nine years. Kotaku reports that Friday was his last day with the Big N.

Adelman has gone independent, and Nintendo is said to be supportive of the move.

Renegade Kid’s newest 3DS project, “Xeodrifter”, has been revealed tonight.

Here’s what we know:

– Renegade Kid co-founder Jools Watsham “got a bee in my bonnet to make a metroidvania game”
– Treasurenauts is still happening
– Renegade Kid not working on Cult County or the previously-announced Razor game
– Xeodrifter started out when Watsham mocked up a 2D demake of Moon Chronicles for fun
– He liked the results, but sat on the mock-up for a few months
– The idea of the 2D space game came back to him one day and he wanted to act on his interest
– This is how Xeodrifter was born
– Separate from Moon Chronicles, not related to it at all
– Xeodrifter is a separate character/story
– Renegade Kid will return to Treasurenauts once Xeodrifter is done
– Game tells the story of an interstellar drifter traveling the stars on a mission of exploration
– Players join the nomad as he embarks on the exploration of small cluster of four planets in the omega sector, after a collision with a rogue asteroid damages his warp drive
– A scan of the neighboring planets reveals a number of energy signatures on the planets that may provide the special material needed to fix his warp drive and get back to cruising through the cosmos
– Xeodrifter is intended to be a small, bite-sized experience, much like Ikachan in terms of scope
– There will be secret goodies located off the main path to keep the thorough gamers among us busy for a little longer
– Layout of the levels finished as of July 1 to provide a playthrough of the entire game from beginning to end, in rough format
– No enemies are functional yet
– The player can traverse from level to level at the moment
– The foreground layers are scaled up 200% so each pixel is larger than the default 1:1 pixel size
– The layers in background are at 100% scale
– This gives a great sense of depth and also allows the player to exist in the background without having to be scaled or redrawn to “look” smaller
– When in the background, he “is” actually smaller
– Renegade Kid is going for a NEO-NES look with the limited color usage
– Also using the NES palette to give it that familiar aesthetic

Yacht Club Games is pleased with Shovel Knight’s sales performance thus far. The game has only been out for about a month, but the studio’s Sean Velasco told Game Informer:

Velasco: I’d say it’s doing very well. We are very pleased with where it’s at, even this early in the sales time.

Yacht Club’s Nick Wozniak also commented on Shovel Knight’s sales, stating: “Across all platforms it’s exceeding expectations.”

FAST Racing Neo

Shin’en will finally be unveiling the first screenshots from FAST Racing Neo, the developer has confirmed.

The studio wrote on Twitter today:

A few days ago, news emerged that Arcane Pixel’s Tiny Galaxy is in the works for Wii U. We recently spoke with creator Taylor Hajash to learn more about the game.

Here’s how Hajash describes Tiny Galaxy:

So Tiny Galaxy is a gravity based, atmospheric platformer game for the Wii U system. Rather than utilizing “normal” flat platforms you see in most other platformer game, Tiny Galaxy uses round planets of varying size that you will jump between. Each of these planets has its own gravity field, and as you move between each planet the screen rotates and shifts to keep that camera facing up right. It adds a really awesome look at feel as you run around the planets and jump between them! I have 5 different worlds in the game, a Forrest type world that you see in the screenshots, an Ice type world, a Fruit & Candy world where, instead of planets you play on Fruit and Candy, a Metal planet world and finally is a Dead planet world.

The main objective of the game will be to go through each level collecting 3 objects to open up a warp gate to go to the next level. I didnt really want to have the game to feel to linear, so adding the collectibles through out each stage adds more of a challenge as you have to collect each one to open the warp gate and some of them are hidden behind some really difficult obstacles.

In terms of GamePad functionality, the controller will be used for level select and navigating menus. There will be off-TV play, too. “For me personally, one of my absolutely favorite things about the Wii U console, is being able to play my games while someone is watching TV and not having to argue over who gets to do what, which is why I am incorporating that feature into the game,” Hajash said.

Interestingly, Hajash hopes that Tiny Galaxy will be accessible for disabled gamers and this is something he has spent a lot of time on. Players will be able to use the Wii Remote Plus controller and play the game in a one-handed mode (left or right hand) by using the d-pad and “B” button to move and jump respectively. Hajash is even looking into supporting the Wii Balance Board in hopes of implementing a no-buttons option, “but this has been very difficult and may not make it into the final build.” A future update could be possible if he can’t get it up and running perfectly.

Tiny Galaxy is targeted for early 2015 – perhaps the end of February. Wii U owners can expect a price point in the range of $7.99 to $9.99 for 50-75 levels. Hajash has been “playing the field to see what people would like to pay for the game.”

In the end, Hajash said he wants Tiny Galaxy “to be a fun game that everyone feels like it was a good value and not just something that they’ll play for an hour and finish and never come back to.”
