Last week’s Nintendo Direct included a few news updates about Fire Emblem Fates. One of these was the reveal of a limited edition for North America.

GameStop’s website includes an interesting tidbit about the special release. If you purchase the Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition, you can play the Revelation story path three weeks before it launches on the eShop. Of course, this is also the only way to obtain all three versions of the game on a single cartridge.

It’s been a long time coming, but Nintendo Everything’s longest-running feature with the lowest number of updates is back and ready to cover a whole new platform of import games. I not so recently bought a Japanese New 3DS while overseas so now I can actually write about games that came out during this decade. And now six months later I’m finally taking some time out from managing my Girls Mode 3 store and decorating my home menu with badges of Waluigi in a train to review my favourite Japan-exclusive 3DS title I’ve played so far – Daigasso! Band Brothers P. This game mixes rhythm gameplay with the ability to create and share your own composition to create a unique experience that’s unlike anything else on the 3DS. There aren’t many other games that do such a great job of making players feel like they’re part of a band – and without a single plastic instrument, too!

In this month’s issue of Japanese magazine Nintendo Dream, Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. art director Takako Sakai opened up on the game’s art style and visuals as a whole.

According to Sakai, he wanted there to be as few differences as possible between the 2D illustrations and in-game 3D models.

Sakai began by creating character illustrations that imitated the feel of American comics from 1960 since he felt that was nicely compatible with polygons. However, this style was also chosen since he personally liked it.

Next, Sakai shares the following about why and how the art style in Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. changed a bit:

Famitsu has now posted its complete interview with the Fire Emblem If developers online, and it comes with a few new screenshots. View them in the gallery below.

Code Name S.T.E.A.M. box art

Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. debuted in Japan last week. Sadly, it’s almost an understatement to say that it’s off to a very slow start.

As Media Create didn’t include Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. in its latest charts, it was an indication that the game sold under 2,000 units. This is something that Famitsu confirms with its own sales figures. According to the site, Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. moved just 1,835 copies in Japan.
