Koei Tecmo

Fire Emblem Warriors isn’t just a Switch game. Today, Nintendo announced that a New 3DS version is in the works. The game launches this fall.

Koei Tecmo is bringing Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII with Power-Up Kit to Switch in Japan on March 30. Before that though, another game will be released at the console’s launch. That one is Nobunaga’s Ambition: Sphere of Influence with Power-Up Kit.

For the Switch edition, Koei Tecmo is packing in some original elements, such as new additions to the story. All DLC will also be included on the cartridge. And just like Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII the motion IR camera in the Joy-Con controller is used to create warlords based on things such as the target’s form and feel.

Some screenshots from Nobunaga’s Ambition: Sphere of Influence with Power-Up Kit can be found below.

Koei Tecmo has various 3DS themes lined up to promote Attack on Titan: Escape from Certain Death. The latest one, pictured above, is a pre-order bonus.

We also have a pair of short videos below showing the Eren and Levi 3DS themes. For Levi, you’ll need to purchase the Treasure Box in order to gain access.

Koei Tecmo could be collaborating with Nintendo on another Warriors game for Switch, if the latest speculation is to be believed.

On Wii U, the two companies worked together to bring Hyrule Warriors to Wii U. The game was then ported to 3DS last year as Hyrule Warriors Legends.

YouTuber OBE1plays first claimed that Koei Tecmo is developing a new Nintendo-themed Warriors game for Switch. Apparently, the project is not a retread of Zelda, nor is it based on Star Fox. Laura Kate Dale, who has been posting Switch rumors over the past few months (many of which have proven accurate thus far), wrote last month that Koei Tecmo pitched a Star Fox Warriors title at some point, but Nintendo turned it down.

Following OBE1plays’ report, Dale wrote on Twitter that she’s heard similar things about Koei Tecmo’s Switch game. She as well says it isn’t related to Zelda or Star Fox.

– Speak with your partner when it’s safe and titans aren’t around
– Choose what you want to talk about from the range of “topics” you procured during your exploration

– Your partner may come off as cold depending on the player’s choices

Despair

– If your level of Despair rises, you won’t be able to make normal decisions

Time Limit Choices

– Serious situations may limit the amount of time you have to make a choice
– Whether you’re able to make the right choice in a tense situation will be the key to your escape

Tool Screen

– Even in an ominous old castle, Mikasa always appears calm
– Other than escaping, she also seems to be looking for Eren

Star Fox

Believe it or not, LetsPlayVideoGames isn’t finished with its Nintendo rumors for the day. This time around, the site shares some information about an unconfirmed pitch from Koei Tecmo.

The Japanese company, who previously worked on Hyrule Warriors (and Legends), allegedly made a pitch for a Star Fox-themed Warriors title. Melee combat would have been the focus with some space dogfighting segments mixed in. Motion controls would have been absent, “focused on alternating missions between ground combat and a simplified space combat system designed to be simple to control and visually over the top.” It would have been comparable to Hyrule Warriors in many ways.

Nintendo is said to have turned down the pitch “due to questions regarding the future of the brand.” It never left the design stage, and it’s unknown which system it was targeted for.

Despite the Star Fox pitch not progressing, Koei Tecmo remains interested in giving another Nintendo franchise the Warriors treatment. Additionally, Nintendo is apparently open to that as well.

Koei Tecmo has come out with the first full trailer for Attack on Titan: Escape from Certain Death. Have a look at it below.

Koei Tecmo released a new set of Attack on Titan: Escape from Certain Death today. Find them in the gallery below.

Today’s screenshots cover two aspects of the new Attack on Titan game: exploration and bonds.

The goal is to escape from the basement of an old castle where the player falls after an attack from the titans. Players will explore the castle with other team members, but there are dangers lurking in the form of traps and titans. The reason why the player has to explore the castle is because the 3D Maneuver Gear broke down during the accident so flight is impossible.

Other than obtaining items, there are also quests, where player needs to pick the correct choice within a limited time. If the quest fails, relationships with characters may fall, or it might even lead to a bad ending.

Players can strengthen bonds with characters by choosing the correct actions and words. Even guarded characters may eventually open up their unexpected other side once the bonds are strong enough. However, bonds may also loosen/weaken if the wrong choices are made. There are graphic effects on the character to show the change in bonds. When positive, the character has an energetic blue aura. But if going negative, there will be a depressing purple aura instead.

Update: Here’s the boxart:

Original: Attack on Titan: Escape from Certain Death will release for the 3DS on March 30 in Japan. The game will cost 5,800 yen. There is also a Treasure Box version of the game, retailing for 12,800 yen, which includes a visual book, soundtrack, two waterproof posters, six tin badges, and download codes for 3DS themes featuring Miksasa and Levi. First-print copies of both versions will also have a download code for an Eren theme, and first-print copies of the Treasure Box edition will have one for an Erwin theme.

The game will center around an original character, who, while investigating outside humanity’s defensive walls, gets trapped beneath an old castle. Their 3D maneuver gear is damaged, and thus they and a partner must find their way out of the underground.

Koei Tecmo has also released a teaser trailer for the game, which can be viewed below:
