Mojang founder Markus Persson, who also goes by the name Notch, has ruled out Minecraft for Wii U. Rumors of a possible release on Nintendo’s console began to appear last week.
Persson wrote on Twitter that Minecraft “would make sense” on Wii U. “The only reason for no current plans is we’ve got too much work already,” he explained.
Notch’s tweets in full:
I am not aware of any plans to release a Wii U version of Minecraft.

I agree a Wii U version would make sense, btw. The only reason for no current plans is we've got too much work already. I <3 Nintendo.

Rumor: Minecraft coming to Wii U next summer
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii U | 22 Comments
Minecraft may be making its way to Wii U next year, if a report from Nintendo Enthusiast is to be believed.
The site claims – via a “retailer source” – that Mojang has Wii U dev kits at its disposal and is targeting a release next summer.
Not much is known about how Minecraft will play on Wii U at this time, though the team is apparently “focusing on the GamePad”.
A word of advice: take this rumor with a huge grain of salt for now.
