Super Mario Maker 2

Famitsu reported a few days ago that Super Mario Maker 2 shifted nearly 200,000 copies in its first week. Dengeki has things quite a bit lower at 163,000 units, but regardless, it’s the best debut for the series yet. The Wii U and 3DS versions each sold about 150,000 copies in their first weeks.

Dengeki also mentions that Super Mario Maker 2 sold through about 55 percent of its initial shipment. That’s comparable to the 56 percent for the Wii U original and 50 percent for the 3DS edition.

We’ll also mention here that Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball for Switch sold 79,000 copies in its first week with a sell-through rate of 65 percent. However, since Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball 2018 sold 192,000 units on PS4 and PS Vita, Dengeki feels that the Switch release is off to a bit of a slow start.

Yacht Club Games has provided a sales update on Shovel Knight. Since launch, the game has sold 2.5 million copies. That news was announced in celebration of Shovel Knight’s fifth anniversary.

As fans know, there’s still a bit of Shovel Knight content on the way. Yacht Club Games will release Shovel Knight Showdown and King of Cards in the near future.

Yo-kai Watch 4

Yo-kai Watch 4 finally made its debut in Japan last week. Between June 20 and June 23, the game sold about 150,000 copies. Dengeki now reports that it had a sell-through rate of roughly 60%.

You may recall that Yo-kai Watch started off slowly, but the series’ second entry is where the franchise really started to take off. The games, anime, and toys were all in sync and resulted in a big popularity boost.

New data is in from the UK regarding a pair of prominent Switch games.

First up, Super Mario Maker 2 is the biggest Nintendo launch of the year having surpassed New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. It was also the top seller in the UK last week.
