Dragon Quest Builders sold through 55% of its initial shipment in Japan

Dragon Quest Builders for Switch is one of the few entries in the franchise released in the west ahead of Japan. The Japanese release just took place on March 1.
For the week of February 26, we heard that Dragon Quest Builders sold just under 30,000 copies. Dengeki further reports that it sold through about 55% of its initial shipment in Japan.
The debut Japanese sales of Dragon Quest Builders for Switch aren’t really comparable to the initial PlayStation debut, but it’d be a bit silly to compare them in the first place. This is a somewhat late port at the end of the day, and we also can’t forget that Dragon Quest Builders 2 will be available sometime this year. Long term sales are also possible.

UK sales for February 2018
Posted on 6 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 0 comments
New sales data is in from the UK for the month of February.
Even though the month was slow, February 2018 was actually more successful for boxed games retailers than the year prior. Software sales increased to 1.2 million games sold while revenue generated from these games rose 6% to £36.5 million.
We can thank Switch for the increase, as the console accounted for 14.5% of all the games sold last month. Also, Nintendo placed second in the publisher rankings with a 13.3% share of the market. In 2017, Wii U had a 1.8% share of the market, and Nintendo was the fourth-ranked publisher.

Spending on Nintendo products roughly doubles in 2017, Nintendo expected to overtake Microsoft in console market share this year
Posted on 6 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 0 comments
According to IHS Markit’s analysis, roughly $8 billion was spent on Nintendo products in 2017. That’s about double what the Big N generated the year prior. The arrival of Switch, the SNES Classic Edition, and continued 3DS sales contributed to the increase.
IHS Markit indicates that Nintendo will have a larger share of the console market than Microsoft this year. In 2017, over $10 billion was spent globally on Xbox hardware, software, and services.
