Dragon Quest VIII is out today, and to celebrate, Nintendo has put together a launch trailer for the game. Give it a watch:

I Am Setsuna previously appeared on PlayStation platforms. However, for the Switch edition slated for March, Square Enix is preparing a new player-vs-player mode. First details are now in.

The PvP mode acts as free DLC. Once downloaded and the main scenario reaches a certain point, players can upload / download data and battle against other players’ parties in the “Arena of Time.” Various character customization options will be included here.

Minna de Waiwai! Spelunker, a cave exploration game, was previous announced for a Switch release in Japan, and Square Enix has now announced that it will release on April 20. The game will see players diving deep into various caves for treasure, assembling items from scattered pieces, and befriending pets. The game will cost 4,980 yen.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 Professional is coming out on February 9 in Japan for 3DS, and Square Enix has released details on some of its special monsters, the Incarnus. These details have been translated by Gematsu, and show the four basic Incarnus as well as upgraded forms of them.

Windyo
– Wind based
– Small white tiger
– Turns into a large tiger, Emperor Windyo

Freysha
– Looks like a small owl
– Despite its cute appearance, it controls flames
– Turns into a fierce owl, Empress Freysha

Gaogaia
– Earth based
– Looks like a small bear
– Turns into the Righteous Emperor Gaogaia

Ackle
– Water based
– Resembles a turtle
– Specializes in defense
– Turns into War Emperor Ackle

Project Octopath Traveler’s producer and team from Square Enix has launched an official Facebook page. The team, headed by producer Tomoya Asano, previously worked on the Bravely series and is now working on Project Octopath Traveler for the Switch. The team will share behind-the-scenes looks at Project Octopath Traveler as it develops, so it’s worth checking out. Asano writes in an introduction post:

This is Square Enix producer Tomoya Asano.
It’s my pleasure to finally announce our newest project, the fully original role-playing game Octopath Traveler!
While we can’t reveal any specific details quite yet (keep an eye out for promotional media in the near future), we’d like to share with you a behind-the-scenes look at the development process in the meantime.
A long road lies ahead of us, but we hope that you’ll come along for the journey!

Square Enix released a trailer for Dragon Quest Heroes I-II, announced for Switch during last night’s presentation. Watch it below.

Minna de Waiwai! Spelunker was announced for Switch earlier today, coming from Square Enix and Tozai Games. As for actual details, here’s what we know:

– Out physically and digitally this spring in Japan
– Uses free-to-play PlayStation 4 title Spelunker World as its base
– Powers up the weakest protagonist in the history of games for Switch
– Passing around the Joy-Con will make for noisy multiplayer
– From core gamers to playing with family, Minna de Waiwai! Spelunker promises to be an action game that everyone can enjoy
– Up to 4 players in TV and table modes
– 1 player in handheld mode

Dragon Quest VIII’s North American site was in a teaser state before, but it’s now fully opened. Access it here. The site has detailed gameplay information, clips, and screenshots galore.

Two months ago we covered that early pre-orders of Dragon Quest VIII at the official Nintendo UK Store would get us a free poster, but it seems that the deal has changed for the better.

Nintendo UK’s official Twitter account has just posted that pre-ordering Dragon Quest VIII at the Nintendo UK Store will get us a poster and a Liquid Metal Slime keychain. Now that the deal is better, all UK gamers should pre-order it before Dragon Quest VIII launches on the 20th January, just 9 days away.
