Ubisoft changing Child of Light difficulty names with upcoming patch
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 0 comments
Child of Light will soon be receiving a patch to change the game’s difficulty names. In the future, “normal” and “hard” will be modified to “casual” and “expert”.
Writer Jeffrey Yohalem told Joystiq during a live-stream event:
“In a patch that’s coming up, we’re changing the names to ‘casual’ and ‘expert’. This has been an issue, obviously, that some people have had, and I think that the word ‘normal’ is a misrepresentation …. Or, rather, implying that there’s one way to play that’s normal is, I think, too strong.”
“Casual is for people that want to experience the world and experience the adventure without having hard combat, and then expert is for people who love RPGs and who want to really have a challenge.”
Yohalem feels that those who have experience playing role-played games should try Child of Light on the “hard” difficulty for the time being.

As for North America, Giana Sister’s patch is still on the way. Nintendo simply needs to sign off on the update before it arrives.
@dyhptg The US Nintendo crew got the patch submission at the same time but seems to do longer testing. But I'm sure the approval comes soon.

Shovel Knight’s Wii U/3DS-specific features detailed
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS eShop, News, Wii U eShop | 1 Comment
We’ve briefly touched on Shovel Knight’s unique Wii U and 3DS features in the past. Thanks to Destructoid’s recent interview with Yacht Club Games, more information has surfaced.
On 3DS, players can change their items and view gear without having to stop the action. There’s also the StreetPass Arena, which Destructoid describes as follows:
“You have to collect five gems in five seconds and defeat the other Shovel Knights, but there are no other Shovel Knights. But when you Street Pass someone, your recordings go head to head and you can watch the wild stabs at nothing after the fact.”
The Wii U version of Shovel Knight will also have some unique elements of its own. This version will offer Digger’s Diary messages on the GamePad in every area, somewhat like to Dark Souls – and drawing is allowed as well. Yacht Club Games also intends to bring multiplayer to the Wii U version through a future free update.

Fuzzy Wuzzy shared the status update on Twitter a few moments ago, while also noting that Miiverse integration will likely be added to the game in a future update.
Below are all of the relevant tweets:
Recently sent our precheck build to Nintendo (both NA and EU). Getting closer to release.

Lots of nice changes have gotten in the past month, so I'd say the delay is a good thing. Now it's time to push for release.
— Fuzzy Wuzzy Games (@FuzzyWuzzyGames) April 10, 2014
Only feature that wasn't able to get in is Miiverse integration – couldn't figure out the best way to put that in.
— Fuzzy Wuzzy Games (@FuzzyWuzzyGames) April 10, 2014
But I hope to add that in for a future update.
