Nintendo Live 2023: An inside look at Nintendo’s inaugural Seattle event

PAX West 2023 was made a little more special this year thanks to the presence of Nintendo Live, a massive fan-focused convention celebrating iconic Nintendo games, franchises and hardware. While a similar event has taken place in Japan in recent years, this marked the first time the event has been held in North America. And while tickets were free to the public, they awarded at random to interested PAX West attendees (and people who entered a lottery system via Nintendo’s website), so not everyone who was interested in going was given the opportunity to attend. Fortunately, I was able to check out the event on behalf of Nintendo Everything, and there was a lot to see and do for those willing to wait out the massive crowds.

[Preview] Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless – PAX West 2023

If you’re a longtime fan of Disgea, you’ve probably had the upcoming entry in the series – Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless – on your radar for some time now. It’s a series I’ve always been curious about, but my love for strategy RPGs is somewhat of a recent development, and so I’m still cutting my teeth on the genre as a whole. That’s exactly why I was eager to get a taste of this high-energy franchise at PAX West 2023, and while I only got to sample a small portion of the game, I’m already interested in playing more – if not a bit intimidated by the prospect of it.

Nintendo of America president on Charles Martinet becoming Mario Ambassador
Posted on 1 year ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
IGN recently caught up with Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser and asked about the recent decision to make Charles Martinet a Mario Ambassador.
Recently, it was announced that Martinet won’t be voicing characters for Nintendo’s games going forward. He previously held the role for Mario and others for a few decades. But now as Mario Ambassador, Martinet will ” continue to travel the world sharing the joy of Mario and interacting” with fans.
Bowser had this to say when asked about the decision to make Martinet Mario Ambassdor:

One of the high-profile events at this year’s PAX West was the presence of former Nintendo of America president and chief operating officer Reggie Fils-Aime, who presented a keynote address to a room full of fans. As this year marked my first time attending PAX, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to hear him speak in-person – after all, you never know when that next bit of interesting Nintendo history might be revealed, right?

[Rapid Review] The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood
Posted on 1 year ago by Dawn in Reviews, Switch eShop | 0 comments
System: Switch
Release date: August 16, 2023
Developer: Deconstructeam
Publisher: Devolver Digital
It’s not uncommon these days to see a game with a choice-based narrative, which allows players to engage with the story on a deeper level by placing themselves in the role of the character they play as, allowing them to shape that character’s personality and interaction as they see fit with little regard for the consequences: if you make the wrong choice, you can reload and try again, or make another choice to steer yourself back to the ending that you want. But it’s rare to find a game that doesn’t clearly signpost which choices are the “right” and “wrong” ones, and instead lets you decide for yourself and force you to live with the consequences, whatever they may be. The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood, developed by Deconstructeam, lets you take fate into your own hands, for better or worse, in a way that results in a highly personal experience that has as much meaning as you choose to give it.
Bandai Namco comments on lack of English voice acting for Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster
Posted on 1 year ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 0 comments
Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster are bringing back the original GameCube RPGs with numerous updates, but there’s one key omission as they won’t come with English voice acting. Both titles did have a dub originally, but it won’t be included for the new Switch release.
Producer Koji Nakajima explained the decision in a recent interview with Nintendo Everything. He mentioned how during development, the team “tried to make adjustments on some of the expressions to match the current era”. This would have ultimately caused “discrepancies”.
