Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze Enguarde

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze almost brought back Enguarde, it’s been revealed.

Enguarde the Swordfish originally appeared in the first Donkey Kong Country game, and later appeared in the following sequels. He was also present in Donkey Kong Land 2, Donkey Kong Land III, and Donkey Kong 64. Other than an appearance in Donkey Kong Barrel Blast as a rideable animal buddy, he hasn’t been seen since. However, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze nearly brought him back.

Walupeach

A 2008 Nintendo Dream interview is making the rounds due some information that it contains regarding what could have been another character known as Walupeach. Twitter user gosokkyu shared some translation tidbits.

The discussion is with Shugo Takahashi, a co-founder of Camelot. Given how Nintendo was open to good ideas, it turns out that a pitch was made for Walupeach who would have been included in their next game. However, Mario creator vetoed the idea before they could even show him their design. Apparently Miyamoto felt that it would end up like Doronjo.

Switch best-selling console 2022 US

According to the latest NPD data, Switch was the best-selling console of 2022 in the United States. It was followed by the PlayStation 5 in second and Xbox Series in third.

That statistic is based on unit sales. If dollar sales were considered, it’d be the PlayStation 5 in first, Switch in second place, and Xbox Series in third. However, Switch isn’t as expensive as the PS5, which is an important factor.

Fire Emblem Engage Emblems origins pairing marriage

The developers of Fire Emblem Engage have discussed the origins of the game’s Emblems mechanic, and how it came about when thinking about the marriage systems of past entries in the series. This comes from an official interview with director Tsutomu Tei and producer Masahiro Higuchi plus Nintendo’s Genki Yokota and Kenta Nakanishi.

According to Nakanishi, with the marriage system in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War, it took quite some time before players could actually marry someone and have children. The Emblems mechanic for Fire Emblem Engage was ultimately about wanting to have “pairing” gameplay that can be enjoyed more casually.
