Nintendo PlayStation Xbox controller

Accessibility has become a more prominent topic in the gaming industry, and we’ve seen Microsoft in particular make a push with initiatives like its adaptive controller. Interestingly, there were plans – at least at one point – for a new kind of controller that would work across Nintendo, Xbox, and PlayStation hardware.

Former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime shared that news in an interview with Inverse. He said the Xbox adaptive controller was being used “as a jumping-off point to create something that would be platform-agnostic and adaptable by any consumer.” The Nintendo / Xbox / PlayStation controller was happening three years ago, though Reggie isn’t sure if it’s still in development.

Nintendos sexual harassment

Nintendo has started to face some controversy with its employees this year. Back in April, one staffer claimed that their right to unionize was violated and this person filed a complaint with National Labor Relations Board. That was actually followed up a second labor complaint earlier this month against Nintendo and contracting company Ashton Carter. Kotaku now has a story up regarding sexual harassment.

It’s a pretty noteworthy read and we do recommend you giving it a look here. However, we’ve rounded up some of the more notable points below.

Avatar The Last Airbender - Quest for Balance leak

A new game titled Avatar: The Last Airbender – Quest for Balance will be released on Switch, according to a listing on Amazon Japan. GameMill will be publishing the title.

Unfortunately, the listing doesn’t contain any notable information, so we’ll be left to speculate what the game actually is. The page does include a November 8, 2022 release date, but that’s all.

The Splatoon 3 Direct aired this week and it was quite the doozy. In its 30-minute presentation, Nintendo shared a ton of details about the upcoming Switch exclusive.

We got a look at new battle stages, new maneuvers, and new weapons. The three main modes were also given a new look with the single-player Story Mode, “Return of the Mammalians”, Turf War, and Salmon Run. We also know have confirmation that Splatfests are back, but now with three teams instead of two plus Tricolor Turf War battles. We also got some new reveals with the Deep Cut trio, new amiibo, Tableturf Battle, and more. You can catch up on the full recap here.

Now that we’re a few days removed from the Splatoon 3 Direct, how did you feel about the presentation? What are your overall feelings on the game in general? Let us know in the comments.

Kirby Forgotten Land Star Allies connection

There are now two major Kirby games on Switch. Kirby Star Allies came first and was largely 2D, but you might be interested to know that it largely paved the way for Kirby and the Forgotten Land.

Shinya Kumazaki, who was the general director of both games, spoke about their development connection with Japanese magazine Nintendo Dream. Kumazaki says that Star Allies was a means of “laying the groundwork for future works and we were sure that the next game would be 3D.” Interestingly, HAL Laboratory felt that Star Allies and Forgotten Land were “a single large connected project.”
