Is Metroid Dread better than Super Metroid?
Posted on 3 years ago by Luiz in Features, Switch, Videos | 0 comments
It’s been more than two weeks since the launch of Metroid Dread, and while the hype has settled down a little, I imagine that now’s a good time to analyze the game in a more grounded perspective. I decided to put Dread to the ultimate test: is it better than Super Metroid? It made sense to think about them in this way since Super Metroid is still the most acclaimed entry in the series and it is often used as a reference for a good Metroid game.
In today’s video, I discuss how both Metroid Dread and Super Metroid are products of their time, with each one hitting the right spots in different moments. Watch until the end to see my personal conclusion and share yours in the comments.

Posted on 3 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
N64 games have finally arrived on Switch as part of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service, but the launch could have gone a bit better to say the least. Users have been coming forward with a slew of issues and complaints since last night’s debut.
A good amount of the discussion concerns Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Some aren’t pleased with how fog, draw distances, and water textures are on Switch. There are also reports of slowdown and input lag, though how extensive this is has been debated.

Mario Party Superstars features return of Tug o’ War, now with a warning
Posted on 3 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 0 comments
More than twenty years after it caused issues for Nintendo originally, the company is bringing back Tug o’ War for Mario Party Superstars – though it now comes with a warning.
A wild thing happened with the original Mario Party on N64 way back in the day. Certain mini games – notably Tug o’ War – caused issues for some players due to the controls. With the way in which they needed to quickly rotate the analog stick, those that were affected could end up injuring their hands. The New York’s attorney general’s office received quite a number of complaints, forcing Nintendo of America to agree on a settlement. The company allowed families that were impacted to obtain up to four gloves.

World War Z dev: “there is no such thing as an impossible port”, Switch doesn’t really need more powerful version
Posted on 3 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 0 comments
Saber Interactive has been behind some notable Switch ports, including The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and the Crysis Remastered games. The studio is also about ready to ship another impressive release in the form of World War Z. Many wouldn’t have thought that we’d be seeing this game on Nintendo’s console, but Saber managed to make it happen in the end.
Even though World War Z has been the toughest Switch port for Saber Interactive thus far, lead game designer Dmitry Grigorenko doesn’t believe that Nintendo is in need of a more powerful iteration of the hardware. In fact, Grigorenko stated that his team along with other companies “have already proven that there is no such thing as an impossible port.”

Charles Martinet has no intention of leaving the role of Mario anytime soon.
Martinet has been handling the character in games now for almost three decades, having started out with Mario Teaches Typing in 1992. He has also played other key characters in the series, including Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi.
