Nintendo France bans Hero and future DLC characters from official Smash Bros. Ultimate tournaments
Posted on 5 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 0 comments
Ever since Hero made his debut in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, his inclusion in tournaments has been a strong point of contention. Some feel that his moveset is too random, leaving victories and defeats more in the hands of luck rather than skill. Because of this, some tournaments have started banning the character from inclusion.
Nintendo France has now made an interesting move of its own. For the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate European Team Cup 2019, participants will be unable to use Hero. Interestingly, this also applies to every DLC character released after September 23, so the decision appears to affect future events as well.

Why it’s taken Contra so long to return
Posted on 5 years ago by Oni Dino(@Oni_Dino) in News, Switch | 0 comments
It’s been nearly a decade since the last mainline Contra game. Next week, the franchise will finally be returning with Contra: Rogue Corps. We spoke with director Nobuya Nakazato at the Tokyo Game Show and asked why it’s the right time for the series to make a comeback.
Nakazato, who has worked on Contra for over two decades, told us that he’s personally been pushing for the IP’s return. However, there were a few barriers in the way, such as getting approval and the timing was never right. Finding the right team and the resources involved also played a role.

Rumor: Sailor Moon Easter egg in Punch-Out!! for Wii cost Nintendo and Next Level Games millions
Posted on 5 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii | 0 comments
During Piston Hondo’s rematch fight in Punch-Out!! on Wii, the character is shown reading manga. While it can’t be seen very well, believe it or not, early copies of the game actually included images from Sailor Moon. That seemingly innocent Easter egg apparently resulted in a messy situation for developer Next Level Games and Nintendo.
Shesez, known for his Boundary Break YouTube series, mentions that the game’s art director ultimately signed off on the idea despite initial reservations. Because of its release also being so close, the Sailor Moon Easter egg was left in. Removing it may have caused a delay.
