SEGA Genesis Classics launches December 7 on Switch

Today, SEGA announced that SEGA Genesis Classics is coming to Switch on December 7. The package includes more than 50 titles, including Sonic, Streets of Rage 2, and the Phantasy Star series.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct announced for November 1

Nintendo will hold a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct on November 1, the company has announced. Director Masahiro Sakurai will once again be sharing the latest information about the game during a 40-minute presentation.

A few more tidbits have emerged from Nintendo’s financial results briefing held in Japan today. President Shuntaro Furukawa shared the following:
– Sees more DLCs for existing “big” games
– No plans for eSports biz, yet
– All holiday titles now announced (no add’l surprises)
– Won’t use Nintendo IP in Dragalia Lost
– >50% Online users bought annual plan
– Fortnite still doing well

Switch has now outsold the GameCube

As revealed through Nintendo’s latest financial results, Switch has reached a new milestone. Having moved 22.86 million units, the system has outsold the GameCube’s lifetime sales. GameCube sits at 21.74 million shipped.
Switch launched back in March 2017. That means the feat was accomplished in less than two years.
Next up for Switch will be the N64, which sold 32.93 million units lifetime.
Dragon Quest Builders 2 coming to North America and Europe in 2019

Dragon Quest Builders 2 is seeing localization, Nintendo has revealed. That news comes from the company’s financial results, and more importantly, the release schedule.
Square Enix’s game is listed for a 2019 release in both North America and Europe. It’s also labeled as a “Nintendo product”, meaning Nintendo should be publishing the game on Switch in the west.

Thanks to Nintendo’s latest financial results, we’re able to get a look at the company’s latest million sellers. There aren’t any new entries, but there are still a couple of highlights.
Super Mario Odyssey is still the best-selling Switch game at 12.17 million. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 also still remains on the list having sold 1.53 million copies.

Rumor: Castlevania Netflix producer in talks with Nintendo about making Zelda series

Adi Shankar has been responsible for the animated Castlevania series on Netflix having produced two season thus far. His next venture? Speculation points to Shankar possibly working on The Legend of Zelda.
The Wrap claims that Shankar is indeed in talks with Nintendo to produce a series based on Nintendo’s historic franchise. Naturally, there’s no official confirmation at present. But Shankar did tease earlier today that he’s “working with an iconic Japanese gaming company to adapt one of their iconic video game series into a series.”

Switch update out now (version 6.1.0)

A new Switch system update has just gone live. Nintendo has started distribution of version 6.1.0 for all users.
According to Nintendo, today’s update makes “system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience”. This includes taking care of a problem “where certain games don’t recognize a Nintendo Switch Online membership for a short time after purchase”.

Dataminers find evidence of Diablo III amiibo

Based on new findings from dataminers, Blizzard could be preparing Diablo III amiibo. New figures could be announced as early as this week.
What’s been located thus far is that three types of figures are supported. These include the default/generic amiibo, the Treasure Goblin amiibo, and Demon amiibo.
