Runner3 blog update, retro challenge reveal
Posted on 8 years ago by Zack in General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
A new blog post on the Runner3 website has given us a glimpse into the retro challenge levels that will be in Runner3. These levels are different in their art style from the primary levels in Runner3, but unlike the retro challenge levels in past runner games the player will have full control over Commander Video.
In past RUNNER games, the Retro Challenges were much more simplified auto-running levels. In RUNNER3, these levels are serious business. Tons of unique enemies, loads of strange obstacles and puzzles and pitfalls, and all sorts of surprises to discover and explore. I’m very certain that you are going to have tons of fun times with this sub-game. But here’s the secret sauce that’s really going to freak out all you CommanderVideo fans: you’re in total control of CV in these levels! That’s right…run, jump….OR EVEN STOP! Writing that sentence even freaked ME out! Where am I?! What world is this that I live in?! What are these fabric tubes my legs are trapped in?!!? (Editor’s Note: Jason, those are your pants.)
If the regular blog updates are anything to go by, Runner3 appears to be making steady progress to its 2017 release date. You can find the entire blog post here.

A new update for Pokemon GO is “rolling out right now” according to the Pokemon GO site.
The update will add the daily bonus system to Pokemon GO, which will reward players for catching a Pokemon and visiting a PokeStop each day. Repeating this each day will net you further rewards. Additionally, Niantic has said that Pokemon spawn rates will be higher until November 11, alongside extra items being given out at PokeStop. The Pokemon GO Twitter released this helpful picture in a tweet to explain the daily bonus system.
How about a bonus on your bonus? From Nov 7 – Nov 11, you can find more Pokémon & get more items from PokéStops! https://t.co/l13dRCPveW pic.twitter.com/4BvetrzmFK

Ubisoft developing a title for Switch that will “surprise” players
Posted on 8 years ago by Zack in Switch | 70 Comments
Yves Guillemont, Chairman and CEO of Ubisoft, has made some very interesting comments regarding Ubisoft’s plans for the Nintendo Switch.
While we’ve known that Just Dance 2017 is one of the few titles actually confirmed for the Switch, Mr. Guillemont has hinted in a recent Facebook post that there is another, unannounced title being worked on by Ubisoft for the Switch which will “surprise you a lot”.
“With the Switch’s unique capacities and design, Nintendo could again redefine the way we play games! The Switch is accessible at its core and will give people the freedom and the pleasure to share more experiences and play anywhere at anytime. The Ubisoft teams developing games for the Switch are inspired by these new possibilities, and I’m really happy that we’re able to continue doing great things with Nintendo. In addition to Just Dance 2017, I think there’s at least one game that will definitely surprise you!”
An interesting statement, to be sure. Only time will tell what this title turns out to be.

Sonic movie reported to be a “hybrid CG-animated/live-action family film”
Posted on 8 years ago by Zack in News | 15 Comments
We’ve known about the Sonic the Hedgehog movie adaptation for a while now, but some new details have come to light regarding it.
As reported by Deadline, the project will be a “hybrid CG-animated/live action family film”, with Tim Miller as executive producer. Miller previously worked on the Deadpool movie, and was working on the sequel to the film until he recently left the project due to “creative differences”. He’s also the co-founder of Blur Studio, which is known for creating CGI cinematics. Alongside Miller will be script writers Patrick Casey and John Miller, both of whom handled the script for Golan the Insatiable. Neal H. Moritz will be producing the title, who was a part of the Fast and Furious film franchise. Blur Studio collaborator Jeff Fowler is on board as director.
Miller seems quite happy to be working with Fowler on the project, and said as such:
“Jeff is an incredible director with strong story instincts. The world of Sonic presents the perfect opportunity for him to leverage his experience in animation to bring new dimension to this iconic character.”

Pokemon GO revenue on the decline, will likely continue to decline “to some degree”
Posted on 8 years ago by Zack in Mobile, News | 21 Comments
Pokemon GO has been a runaway success for Niantic and the Pokemon Company, but it seems its wild popularity is dwindling – at least compared to other mobile game titans.
A collection of data regarding Pokemon GO and its overall decline in revenue has been posted on the Survey Monkey Intelligence blog, detailing how steep the decline in revenue is. During it’s peak month of July and some time afterwards, Pokemon GO was the most profitable mobile game by a very wide margin. However, its revenue generation has shrunk to levels that are more comparable to other mobile games, such as Mobile Strike, Game of War and Clash Royale. In the blog post, its mentioned that the revenue generation of Pokemon GO has fallen to a level that puts it on par with Candy Crush Saga. Furthermore, the author believes that this downward trend will continue to a certain degree:
October saw Pokémon GO’s daily revenues fall below those of Game of War, Mobile Strike, and Clash Royale, who are now vying for the top grossing game spot.
Pokémon GO’s revenue stats on U.S. smartphones have put it essentially on par with Candy Crush Saga… for the moment. (We expect Pokémon GO revenues will keep falling to some degree.)
