French outlet Le Figaro published an interview with Philippe Lavoué, the General Manager of Nintendo France. They talked about sales figures and targets, Nintendo’s E3 showing and more. Here are some key points from the interview:

  • for France, Nintendo’s goal is to reach 2 million Switch units sold by the end of 2018
  • software sales are up by 20% compared to last year
  • Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze has nearly reached 100,000 copies sold in France alone
  • they’re expectating only about 20% of their Nintendo Labo stock to be sold by September, while the remaining part should be sold during the Christmas period; says that market curves are different for toys than video games
  • for E3, the plan was to only talk about games releasing in the coming months
  • there are more opportunities for announcements at Japan Expo in July, gamescom in August and Tokyo Game Show in September
  • for this holiday season, Nintendo’s big three games are Super Mario Party, Pokemon Let’s Pikachu & Eevee and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate; the first two especially are expected to bring in a large casual audience
  • Nintendo has pretty ambitious goals for Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu & Eevee and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but so far the public reception has exceeded their expectations

It’s pretty interesting that Lavoué specifically names Tokyo Game Show, an event that Nintendo has traditionally been skipping. Could they actually have a presence there this year, or was Lavoué only referring to third-party games?

Octopath Traveler

Octopath Traveler’s new demo is being released today. It actually works a bit differently compared to the previous demo. This demo essentially contains all of the content of the full game, including the stories for all eight playable characters, so you can freely choose any of them. There is, however, a 3-hour time limit on the demo, and you can’t play it anymore once your time is up. However, you can transfer your progress to the full version of the game once it’s released on July 13th.

Also, during the Octopath Traveler during Nintendo Treehouse Live @E3 yesterday, Nintendo talked a bit about the scope of the game. The main story can be completed in roughly 50-60 hours, but if you intend to do all of the sidequests, it might take you between 80-100 hours.

A couple of new quests are now available in Fire Emblem Heroes. A set of quests for Tap Battle will be available for the duration of the current run of the Illusory Dungeon. Two notable rewards for these quests are new accessories: the Swim Goggles and Askran Hairpin.

Also, new Arena quests are available. As with previous times quests like these were available, they come in three difficulty tiers, so as soon as you clear the Normal tier of quests, the Hard tier becomes available, and then there’s a set of Lunatic difficulty quests after that. These quests will reset in six days, and then they’ll be available for another week after that.

Three new animals have been added to Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp today: Lobo (can be gotten via the vintage telephone), Robin (zen bell) and Egbert (space station). Additionally, until June 18th, you can sometimes get historical essence from Shovelstrike Quarry. Also until the 18th, a new set of timed goals called “Host the Most” are available. As the name implies, these goals require you to invite a certain number of animals to your campsite.

Fire Emblem Heroes’ next new Grand Hero Battle has started. It features Linus: Mad Dog from Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. It’ll be available until June 19th.

The next entry in the “Atelier” series of games has been announced via Famitsu, and it’ll be released on Nintendo Switch. Titled Nelke and the Legendary Alchemists, the game is a town-building RPG featuring many characters from previous Atelier games (thanks to Siliconera for the translation).

The game’s main character is Nelke von Luchetam. Coming from a family of nobles, she actually has no talent for alchemy herself. She has been charged with developing the frontier town of Vestabalt by her father. She’s also searching for the mysterious “Sage’s Remains”.

Fallout Shelter got a surprise release on Nintendo Switch following Bethesda’s E3 press conference. NintenDaan took a look at the game and recorded about 18 minutes of footage, which you can see below:
